Some places have gone and been rebuilt or modernised, these are my memories as I remember it.
I remembered things just walking around, but there was so many I couldn’t fit them all in.
Whilst walking around I couldn’t believe how much the wider area has grown residentially.

Hi welcome to another edition of my channel rman uh today uh we are going to be visiting brinsworth now this is the place where I grew up uh I left brinsworth in 1982 and I’ve never been back since so uh I’m going to take some footage uh

We’ll have a look to see if it’s changed over the years I’m sure it has uh but we’ll see here it [Applause] [Applause] Goes just parked shop in the village of brinsworth as we used to call it first thing you see is the three magp Hotel well as it used to be known uh I’ve not been in there since 1979 uh this fish shop chip shop fish and chip shop here that’s always been there

Uh these shops have changed of course at Tesco Express Crossroad used to be hardware shop just walking down here this this these shops have definitely changed just moving with the times I suppose but they’ve always been shops that’s always been a post office as far as as far as I can

Remember don’t seem to have changed that much just looking at them shops there they’ve not changed changed that’s always being a chemist of some sort probably changed that looks like in EST State agents that Premier that Premier shop always used to be a news agent and that

I think it was that swich shop or that you fck shop used to be a Panasonic TV and II shop davic I bought a Panasonic TV from there about 30 years ago walking back to my car this dentist shop used to sell baby clothes with a baby clothes shop bought my daughter’s

First dress from there in 1984 I don’t know if that’s always always been a cand Dy not changed much in 41 [Applause] years [Applause] This is brinsworth man infant school this has always been here I never went to this school I think there’s two Junior and infant schools in brinsworth and and a secondary modern this used to be brins of community center there were a car park here and we used above behind that

Wall used to be a recreation ground I’m sure it’s still there but this used to be a little Community Center I had my wedding reception here in 1983 the crossroad there is brinsworth working men’s club that’s always been there not been in that place since about 1978 here this bus Stop’s always been

Here but just behind this bus stop used to be some public toilets this is completely new really modern now it’s called the center this road here by this what used to be the community center this Road’s always been here but it used to lead up to Industrial units looks like they built some

Houses quite nice that’s a new house can’t ever remember that being there but times have changed in 40 odd years that’s sprs with Club this is a garage always been a car repair place just behind this garage us to be a little Barbers uh I’m it’ll not be there now of

Course and we used to call it flash I think they called him flash arry or we used to do as kids these Bungalow never used to be here this is where they used to have traveling Fair Ground just there where that wall is looks like a new house is being built

That’s where flash Aries used to be here’s the club there’s always been some sort of betting up there that chip Shop’s always been there they look like Flats they’ they’re obviously brand new look yeah this little piece here just used to be just gravel and this is where they used to have traveling

Fair back in the 70s that’s Duncan Street in ell Street or whichever way around it goes I don’t know now is then flat there they look like Flats on and on the end of this road that used to be a big pub called The Atlas Hotel this used to be Davis’s

Supermarket and I’m sure there used to be a beer outside in it still a supermarket still a bakery but I don’t think it would there I think all this would a supermarket I don’t know if the house has always been there that one there on the

End used to be what we used to call a Bob’s house police house my mate actually bought that in late ’90s did it up don’t know if he still owns it and rents it out or not I don’t know just be them trees of obviously ly grown but just beyond them

Trees that’s where I were brought up and that’s where I’m going to go next but that that Pub’s definitely gone Atlas Hotel just beyond I’ll just take you just take you past this house and there’s a church here Grand Old Church don’t know what they call it you can’t see much of it

Now oh there you go it’s little bell tower we know Bell around about 1974 I remember when we I about 14 of course where I’m stood now all this were underwater all of it those houses were flooded all these shops were flooded these everything was flooded I stand 5′ 7 it must have

Been 4 foot 4 and 1 half foot deep back in 19 might have been 73 74 and I remember these Bungalows when these Waters subsided this Supermarket was selling its tin stuff off cheap these Bungalows up to about that fourth one there where that black vanies they were just up to them windows

Underwater so these first ones here they would have been almost at top of them wind them windows these houses would have been flooded I’m guessing we that where you can see that sensor is it a sensor no it’s like a locking mechanism that’s probably where flood waters come to Chip Shot were flooded

Club were flooded that garage were flooded all the way up to school I’ve actually got a photo on that I’ll try and put that on as well just to give you some idea what it looked like back in the day right that St up there that’s where

We’re going to next that’s where I grew Up A so this is where we’ve just been and now I’m back on the estate where I grew up so then them Flats where the atlas atel used to be I don’t know when that will pull down that’s always being a petrol station these hous is on your left here

This is where I used to live one of these four houses obviously I can’t tell you which one I’ll not reference any name names in these videos and when we were kids we used to have this trolley we used to start at top of this earlier good good come down here around

Here Gathering speed Gathering speed all the way down and just about where that white car is there this used to be a Cy site so there were just four houres here and as I said just where that them F that white car is what we used to call a bll

Ring so it’s we you could come this were dead end Road used to turn around here so I reckon it would have been around about just about yeah just probably Beyond this drain GR that drainage great all where these houses are the these weren’t here when I used to live here the addent

Pulled Atlas straight down then that house there with the red bricks painted red brick I think they’re just the only original properties left on Atlas Street these trees weren’t there these trees the were well there were trees here but the weren’t as Bush is this obviously 40 odd years ago

So when I moved here in 1966 where this green is used to be prefabs all this estate used to be prefabs prefabricated houses then Bungalows there they weren’t built but the rest of the estate were and these the prefab is what we left left there weren’t people in them they

Were empty and we used to play them as kids that stone acre garage there I remember that being an knowled company called Proctors and I think before it were Proctors it used to be an ice cream factory I can only remember Caravans being there that petrol station’s obviously got

Bigger it just used to have four little pumps on an island and they used to come out and save your petrol that when I first start to driving in 1977 right when we used to get ready for school you could could see buses coming and what I mean by that

Is these trees have obviously grown but through them trees you could see that Recreation ground I mentioned earlier you could see bus coming down white till or white till Lane I don’t know what they call it these days and then you you just run over this

Green to bus so we could look out of his windows and see bus coming from down there I think I might remember things as I’m going around and now I’m talking about these buses I think the 131 used to go straight up and you could see

That obviously them trees are in way but you could see that coming from up B Road I think that one what come down white till I think that were 132 and then the 133 used to turn left after can CLA Bridge which you can probably just see between that tree and

That that lamp post so we moved here in 1966 around about April March April May 1966 but I was actually born in can Claw so ADM we lived in these hour AR right here everybody I knew just lived on this right side of road I didn’t know anybody on this left side girl from our class lived here on your right yeah yeah thank you some more lads than you lived here on

Right my cousins lived here with that blue vanies front of these Flats have changed they’ve not they’ve always had a balcony but they doway looks like they’re secure doers anybody could walking when we were kids uh a distant cousin of mine lived here on my left now there’s only one person I will

Reference of me time in brinsworth and that’s because I’ve got his permission to and that’s my best mate mck twig as I say I moved here in 1966 I would have met him around about 1968 when we were kids here where these garages are because we’re still building these Bungalows there on that

End they were just sand bricks dumper trucks and one that lads who used to live here on right hand side we used to play down this street he got dump truck started and just ran it down here so my best mate mck twig Liv you on your left and next door

To him we another good M to our she were in our class I’m not mentioning her name so like I said these Bungalows weren’t built then and as kids so so it’ have been about 1970 I don’t think they were quite finished they were built but

There were nobody in them and we used to play in them as kids and because they were still building these used to have a sight foran and we were playing in these Bungalow and he come around looking for us and we crawled into Lofts we got into

Lofts and had to hide in Lofts of these bungalows I think they might have I don’t know if they were built or not but I know these definitely weren’t and this this Snick it of course has always been here got railings up now and it sad when they have to Cardon things off

I suppose we were boogers when we were kids but no like today these trees they weren’t there they might have been twig trees them like new new planted ones so this is called brinsford Road Road that’s the houses were talking about in distance there where you could

See bus coming through so where the mil the this path this path were never here so it must uh so oh the only access we’re probably that path there which has always been what leads on to bus stop this path will never here and from looking from the houses

There where I grew up from where where I used to live you could see these trees are here I’ve mentioned it already you could see bus coming down just passed I think you can just see that bus stop there look see a bus stop just under branch of them

Trees that Community Center there my sister got married and had a a wedding reception there around about 1973 and that used to be our school disco not school disco came like a a disco for kids on state anyway they stopped doing it for some reason or other they stopped

Doing it whether it were noise oration I don’t know anyhow me and my mate Mickey TG I think his moms went to seat committee uh and they got us they got it reopen for us this this school disco uh and just round about that time it had a about 1974

1975 uh and we were into Northern Soul then so so my M MRE he got his record player and what how we used to do it was the Bingo calling machine and the microphone that he used to have to call that Bingo numbers uh we used to set mix record

Player up and get his microphone put it on the speaker of the record player so it would blare out through the uh through the uh speakers that I used to call the Bingo on and that would a school disco so me and mck twg this Roman cin Roman I

I I didn’t cover that part Roman Cresent goes all the way around so he access sprin so at that time you could access spr brinsford road just behind this community center Roman Cresent goes all the way around where we’ve just been and comes out there where that white car

Is we used to play football and Cricket on here things will probably just come to me as I’m walking around these trees are well established now so I have not been back to brinsworth in 41 years well to be honest I’ve never I’ve never needed to I left home in

1982 and B with fish situated on the south side of ram I think the only more more southern part is cat cliff and treating which is above them Beyond them houses up on that hill so this is clust South R when I moved home I went to live in

North Ram so my place of work I never came past here I mean I used to come and visit my mom and dad but my mom and and Dad they moved away in 1986 and they retired to the Coast I’m just walking back now I mean I’ve drove through I mean I’ve never been on this estate I’ve never been and look around like I’ve done now but I’ve drove through occasionally on that road that’s the main road into Sheffield when I do drive here I always look

Up it’s like a Nostalgia sort of Thing but I’ve got I’ve got no mates here anymore they’ve all moved away I wouldn’t know anybody all the people are know past and present but proba probably they’ve either died or they just don’t live around here Anymore can’t CL Woods over There I you enjoyed this little revisit back to brinsworth with Me fetch back a few memories especially in my mom and Dad

  1. Nice to see where you were brought up Dallo. Getting to grips with new technology? What is your reason for doing this? are you doing it for the children or for local history?

  2. That was really good but you need to do a part 2 of the Whitehill area of Brinsworth. This is just one part of Brinsworth that you have filmed but nicely done. Well done Brinny Lad 👍😉

  3. I lived in Kimberworth just near Dishmans then Sheffield then back to Brinsworth. Just off Bawtry rd.. Rotherham was great until it became full of kiddy diddlers.
