Welcome to the tenth episode of the series Fascinating Essex. In the instalment, I visit the Colne Valley Railway, even if my intention was to see the Ridgwell Airfield Museum.

On this day the plan was to go and visit the ridgewell Airfield Museum I say the plan was because I was unsuccessful in this attempt for reasons you will shortly find out however in this failure I found myself successful in finding another completely different destination just around the bend welcome to the 10th
Episode of fascinating Essics I had just washed all my riding gear so before leaving I had to reattach the braces and stick all the protective paddings back In The [Applause] I needed to fill up on fuel before heading out so after giving Freeway to the police I steered towards the saintsbury petrol station this was closed as they also needed to fill up their tanks I turn around and carry on to the BP station on kogal
Road for me I’ll be to but you won’t Tell the woman’s design is Divine oh my life’s been a storm since the day I was Bor inoc left a I accept what is I let go with what was my faith in what will be in aund years or so where you let go I’ll but you won’t a woman’s design is Divine I started out north through the village of Bing where I resisted to stop at the very nice Co-op store and continued East Crossing the a131 towards greenstead green considering it was now the end of October the trees were still surprisingly Green a woman’s is divine no need to hold I close my eyes and Shine Oh let me wa before I go oh the price I will pay make me myself all night leave no part on me I’m scared when you rip me no smok every little s if you all take what you want for me I’ll be but you won’t tell the woman’s design is divine
This is amazing I’ve just been on this little tarmac Road here I recognize some of the parts of this I’ve been on it before but this is just amazing we’re here we have a little Bridge here over a little creek ah that looks pretty doesn’t it
Very cool oh look at that side as well very nice so I’m just stopping because I wanted to to uh soak this in a little bit and there’s a buzzard flying you will not be able to see that I think so there’s no point turning the camera too
Far away very cool let’s carry on sorry H we HED HED oh I don’t know I’m from Sweden oh all right okay also I didn’t really hear what he said but I doubt that I could have helped him so here we’re coming to a point
Where I on the map thought that it would be possible to ride through so we’re going to go and have a look what it looks like oh Nice Right so that’s the dead end then and there is a sign that I’m not allow owed to cross here so I’m not going through because there’s no reason to make people hate motorcyclists more than they already do so I’m turning around and he looked like he was pleased
To see me turning around rather than going through that’s what we’re doing we’re showing respect we’re not doing stupid things that annoys people and that was the soap box of this episode on the map it looked like I could come through there I could go
Through uh or on this Google um maps on the satellite view it looked like I could right through and I could probably probably but I’m not going to uh but when we come up to the crossing again I have already made an alternate route that I
Can take instead of this so no harm Done as per usual you find a link to my route in the description below and it’s at way point 6 I turn around I now travel North on the west side of Earl’s Kong instead of eastwards on the South Side I then reunite with the original route at count cross just before wayo
12 knew her by her will to make it whatever she put in mind to late night hours up the hill serving coffee strangers talking about Revenue she kept dreaming of the world big enough for everyone she knew it must rain before it grows she kept dreaming all the day butter Fly she down even though the weather was nice and the sun was bucketing down the air was cold and crisp we had had a good week week of aomin weather with quite a bit of rain and this had made the small Countryside Lanes full of fallen leaves and mud which had made them
Slippery a year back I would just have stood up on the pegs and carried on but now I felt that I had lost some of my confidence an unpleasant feeling indeed Songs decades old but it doesn’t matter stumble across so memories try to recall before they shatter she kept dreaming of the world big enough for everyone weing knew with my Str before the CR she kept dreaming all the day but if I surv will even though she could KN down and never show
Believe where’ you go where’s your heart and why’ you fall back lately your after goow is shining bright waking up and Ley [Applause] head feel where did you go where’s your heart at why did you fall back lately more after clo it’s shining brighter l or after glow is shining
Bright waking up and easy [Applause] air feel where did you go where’s your heart at why did you fall back L after to CL it shining bright right doesn’t look very open does it maybe it does let’s have a Look I need to check these things in advance we’ll be open on the second Sunday of each month from March until October second suay of each month doesn’t really scream welcome does it anyway right we’re here we are here and uh and now now we go back I’ll just try to find some place where I can buy some orange juice or something and a sandwich maybe and I stop somewhere nice for lunch
Annoying I should check these things beforehand right okay apologies for the wind in the microphone I don’t know if you can hear this but we’ll try uh I found a railway thingy B Museum whatever col Valley steam trains 5 minutes away so let’s go and have a look at that
It was a bit disappointing that the ridgewell Airfield Museum was closed but this is one of those times when a disappointment turns into something really good as I always say the best experiences you have on roads you never meant to travel actually that sounds like a pretty cool print for a
T-shirt have a look in my spread shop for this new cool design Link in the description Below I don’t know if I should go I want to call this same old rust defend and CRA puddles in the pavement yet I don’t know I don’t know okay we’re here at the Railway Museum uh I said something on the sign up here that I didn’t really
Read let’s go and see if it’s Open all right they didn’t want to be in the video so they don’t have to here it’s like it Miniature Railway as well very cool but we’re going up here for the big proper real Trains In the Brewster Center you learn about the history of the Railway and the lives of the people who worked on it used it and lived close by there are displays showing how the upper col Valley was transformed by the arrival of the Railway So they said that there was a train I could have as many go on as I wanted and there was a buffet on that train and I’m not sure which train that is but we’ll find out by Crossing that cool Bridge traveling post office it say down here let’s have a look at That Wow Canterbury do folk Stone room fly seed cup sandwich M making me hungry imagine sitting here and sorting all the letters for different Destinations let’s go over to the other side again because I think that’s from where this train lives that I can go on and have something to Eat she probably told me how often and when this train leaves I didn’t really listen makes me a bad person not just sloppy Bouet hello is it okay to be filming here or gentleman films here all right Wicked your name Martin Martin and El Elaine all right I need something to eat what do you have we have southern fried chicken burgers we have um hamburgers we have cheeseburger hamburger hamburger yeah lettuce
Tomato with a lot with a loto lettuce tomato or do you want tomato ketchup in it or oh tomato ketchup we can have as well oh you don’t want to be in the p no right you don’t have to you don’t you have do you think I have right thank you very
Much so at the moment we’re in first class and I’m just waiting for my burger your burger thank you kindly sir thank you yeah I’ll have a look for your videos see on the platform just here all right yeah no I uh I’ve been to other railway museums as well um can’t
Remember the names now but around here and all over Europe places yeah yeah good i’ got some by what are you ring i’ got a hus super Swedish used to be yeah say k used to be yeah and um um um try F to in the 675
Yeah nice man get chance toid now train right thank you see you later yeah you m nice one So this is the Heritage line the HST the highp speed train seems like the one thing that made this train unique the high speed is the one thing that we see from the Heritage line I don’t mind though because I’m in no hurry after boarding the restored
Railway coaches at the station the train takes you for about half a mile towards the village of Castle Hingham over and alongside the river col to n Junction we stopping I think this might be where we turn around turn we’re not going to turn around we’re going to
Change direction and go back the same way it’s not turning around the journey then goes back through the station to travel and after turning around the second time you are returned to the station the Total Line length of the trip is just under 1 Mile steam Engine we’re going under the bridge very cool Bridge the miniature Railways going along the real one here that’s quite cool you even have a little changing station there can’t remember what it’s called in English the Little Wheel that turns around so you can turn the engines Around right we’re back at the station so we need to get ready so we can get off [Applause] This is stand not as luxurious as first still very cool this is where you would have found me back in the day unless there would have been a even lower class I would have been in there Is So that concludes the visit to colle Railways col Valley Railways back to [Applause] Betti so we’re back at PTI and and all there’s left to do now is to find our way back home which shouldn’t be too much of a problem as I’ve been on these roads before come with Me this happens to me all the time I miss one plan stop and end up finding something completely different so I don’t see it as failure I see it as opportunity spontaneously presenting themselves if you just keep your eyes peeled and your mind open you don’t have to worry too much or even
Plan too much life is just happening around us and opportunities come and go all you have to do is go with the flow can shake it I can break it I can get get away from you you pull me in I can’t shake it I can’t break
It I can get away from you you pull me in sweet it is too much for me you got me on my KNE I know I should just walk away way but you hold on me won’t get away I can’t shake it I can’t break

Nice video I saw you and Betty in Lakes Road Braintree a few weeks back . I often ride past the Colne Valley Railway on a rideout with friends mainly up to Walkers Snacks near Mildenhall. Great roads out that way for a Motorcycle. I ride a Blue Yamaha FZ6 Fazer.
I enjoyed that I used to live in North Essex & volunteered on the Colne Valley Railway, most of the roads I have riden on a mixture of different bikes, I moved to Derbyshire 4 years ago ad ow have the Peak District to explore on a Motot Guzzi 🙂
Railroad museum is always fascinating 😊 Especially if there’s steam locomotives. 😊
Thank you Anders, hopefully I shall be 'going with the flow' tomorrow on my bike 🙂
Another ‘fascinating’ episode Anders thank you. Base camp looks great, a lot of work has gone into that.
