I’m retrofitting my steelframe bike with an SRAM X-4 derailleur, but to do so I need an derailleurpad. My frame has not the “extra hole” where the derailleur should be put in place.

Anybody an idea which one I need. The previous pad was attached to the old derailleur (Hurret), but I guess it’s not the right one. It made the space to put the wheel in too small.

All the help is much appreciated. See the pictures below to help with the context.

  1. In America, we call them a derailer hanger.

You will likely be restricted to derailers that have the built-in hanger. Much like the one that you took off. To be honest, a bike that comes with a derailer like the one in your photo is a somewhat entry-level bike. Don’t put too much money into upgrading it because you could probably get a better bike used for the same price.

If this bike has sentimental value and you want to keep it running for personal reasons, that’s different. But it’s going to cost you a bit to keep it up.
