I got a bike with a 1 1/8th steerer tube from an ENVE fork. It was fitted with a 1 1/8th stem and then cut to ENVEs spec (1mm above stem with a 5mm spacer)

The fit with the stem ended up not feeling great. I swapped it out to another stem I had and the bike feels way better. Big caveat is the stem I swapped it to is a 1 1/4th with an adapter included. I’m lucky the stack height of the stem is the same but I just wanted to double check if everything is okay.

You can see the enve top cap above the 5mm spacer but also the adapter within the stem.

As long as you don’t have one of those 4 gram weight weenie expander plugs, this is completely fine.
