I got nightmares in my head I mysep I got nightmares in my head hello and a warm welcome to True Crime rocket science the most authentic voice in True Crime something went a r close close to Christmas time in fact there’s a headline with the word simply something happened something happened

Close to Christmas time even prior to the horrific incident on December 30th neighbors have come forward to say the dentistes were invited to a street party over Christmas and didn’t pitch according to the Daily Mail quote we didn’t notice anything until 10:00 when we went out to photograph Jupiter and

There was a police car parked in front of our driveway with the lights going on that’s the statement from a trauma surgeon his words to the Australian he said a little bit later we saw a dark 4×4 being towed Away by a tow truck one thing I would like to know is the

Distance that this vehicle did this vehicle stop and turn around and come back what distance was this vehicle ultimately from the impact from Melissa Hoskins now although there seem to be a few clues that the couple may have been arguing if they did if they were the neighbors didn’t hear anything it’s also

Not clear if the party was Christmas day or the day of the incident but either way the fact that the dentistes were absent suggests a brewing Discord doesn’t it am I wrong to make that inference meanwhile if we dig even further into Rowan’s Story the idea of a

Pro cyclist well known for a short fuse becomes increasingly obvious with Rowan in 2015 admitting to his own anger issues in his own words in an interview before we get to that if you haven’t subscribed to the Channel please do bear in mind there was a kind of a

Moment silence I think a minute silence during the Australian national championships where there’s a little bit of respect paid and tribute paid to Melissa Hoskins it’s important not to forget her not to forget the victim in all of this you can watch that tribute I’ll put a link to that in the

Description if you’re finding this analysis worthwhile please like share leave a comment you can also hit the thanks button and let’s get started now according to espn.com quote yet for all that success Dennis is also known for his temper it came up at the USA Pro challenge in

August that’s August 2015 where Dennis dominated by winning two two of seven stages and finishing second on two others after winning the opening stage his BMC racing teammate Taya finny who took up painting during his year-long recovery from injury referred to Dennis as quote a temperamental artist type a

Creature of inspiration end quote so here we have another teammate who basically seems I guess amused by Dennis’s temperament he seems interested in it like a behavioral scientist might be as opposed to someone who might be directly affected by it the article goes on to quote Dennis saying I have been

Known to sort of have a short fuse and I think cycling is the way I let that anger out that’s how I vent so what happens when you take cycling away because in December last year that is what was missing cycling and thus venting it’s a curious chicken and egg

Thing was cycling causing Den to become angry or was it allowing him to vent his anger or both but if you take cycling out of the equation is he still getting angry and you might say why do young men get angry well it’s kind of a thing that

I believe is related to testosterone it’s related to the sexual urge the frustration of the sexual urge but it’s also just related to the um the the hormone in Men in males that that is meant to make them somewhat aggressive in the sense that they can be competitive and there’s a positive

Function to that in certain areas professional sports business and also I guess in terms of sexual selection but it can obviously have a dark side if I can indulge you guys with something from my past when I went to the UK in the ’90s I stopped regular

Training for the first time in my life for the first time ever mostly due to the cold cold and the wet British climate I wasn’t doing daily swim sessions and I remember I’d be standing in a long queue in a supermarket a queue that wasn’t going anywhere feeling

Impatient slowly turning into anger and I couldn’t understand it until I realized sport had been a natural venting for me and there you know is something that one needs to learn how to deal with either by talking to people uh or facing it in terms of of yourself or becoming an ordinary

Civilian without the luxury of working all of these feelings out to exhaustion but that’s me so I wonder whether that wasn’t Rowan’s deal as well going back to the article quote when dealing with the media something has done a lot this season Dennis comes across as thoughtful and courteous one of the better

Interviews in the sport it’s out on the course fny says that his temper sometimes shows that Rowan Dennis can be angry is not news I’m still quoting from the article his mid-season switch from Garin Shar to BMC racing in 2014 was unprecedented and understood to be due at least in part to

Frustrations with Team Management where have we heard that before so the same thing happened 5 years later right in the TR of France so it does feel like it does seem like this is an ongoing thing going back to the icle more recently his involvement in a dispute during the USA Pro challenge

Rowan Dennis threw something at a jamus Hagen’s Burman Ryder who attacked during a BMC Le nature break showing his confrontational side I’ve always liked things in order Dennis says and this is important to pay attention to his own words talking about this issue I’ve always like things in

Order so when something really simple hasn’t been done or something is isn’t organized and I’ve asked for it to be organized which doesn’t happen very often on BMC it’s something that can set me off a bit that’s one of the main things I’m a bit OCD that’s a nice way

Of putting it end quote and that’s his own words saying he’s putting it in a nice way that is a bit OCD and what does what do those letters stand for obsessive compulsive but I think there’s another way of looking at it it’s kind of being a bit controlling of others

Overly controlling in terms of his own home situation so is a marriage do you think going to reveal Rowan eventually to himself to those around him if you take cycling away is a marriage going to reveal Rowan once again is is a marriage within the challenges of the festive

Season going to lay a lot of that temperament bear what do you think going back to the article quote there is a ped degree there that says there’s a GC meaning General classification potential with this Rider but he’s also an Angry Young Man his reputation precedes him

And that’s good well that was the view in 2015 going back to the article you need that tenacity as a rider it’s not kindergarten out there it’s War when you go to a Race So you need that edge to rise above adversity end quote so as I

Say you there is a kind of a positive aspect where men young men especially can sort of harness those feelings of aggression in a competitive environment the question is did Rowan’s internal war that he was harnessing so well on the cycling courses did that spill over on December 30th when as the impression

He’s been allowed to be angry and throw Tantrums his whole life with no consequence es well until now I’m not going to take it further than that except to mention one additional incident in 2014 Rowan was 23 years old and it was around this time about 10 years ago a

Gust of wind blew him off his bike during the Australian National Championship time trial so the Australian National Championship uh uh events are taking place right now in Australia I don’t think Rowan is taking part anyway at the time he was very committed spending 10

To 14 hours a day in an oxygen tent for 2 months when he fell he was ready to quit there and then he’s 23 years old right at the beginning of his life as a cyclist and he was ready and willing to throw the towel in on that after kind of

A random event that is I guess natural and so couldn’t that have been something that had happened in his marriage where something happened that he didn’t expect it’s the gust of wind you know marriages are full full of gusts of wind and wasn’t he ready to quit there and then as

Well what he said at the time is also worth noting he said quote I got caught up in the Heat of the Moment now I take a deep breath and count to 10 and if that doesn’t work I count to 100 end quote well it seems not much has changed

In 10 years thank you for listening and I’ll see you guys next Time

  1. I do not think cycling or any sport is the cause of any man's inability to control his anger issues. As a cycling fan, I was well aware of Rohan Dennis' short fuse, but there are 100's of other cyclists and pro athletes who are not like that. Being a professional in any sport requires a lot of hard work which can sometimes magnify the athlete's sense of self centeredness. I suspect that Dennis never fully matured emotionally and after he was unable to channel his self centeredness and anger into training and racing, it blew up and ended tragically for Melissa Hoskins and their children.

  2. Not defending him, but she didn't seem the mousy type. She seemed to have a bit of a wild streak in her too. If he was such a terrible OCD sufferer, why bother picking up with him, unless she thought she could take it all in her stride?

  3. When you stop training after years of doing so it is a huge adjustment both physically and mentally with all sorts of emotions involved. It's incredibly difficult and still is at times. Selling my horses was traumatic as was selling my tack. It was like selling a part of my soul. Realizing you'll never make your goals is horrible – there are tears in my eyes even now. With everything being said one absolutely must learn to deal with tragedy and move forward in a healthy way. No one has the right to inflict or project their inner turmoil on anyone else. To me, it sounds like his controlling anger is who he is and athletic endeavors only took part of the edge off. Poor Melissa. Being married to him must have been a living nightmare.

  4. What’s telling is the damage to the hood. Looking at the picture of the damaged hood of his vehicle, body and head indentations-no way her tiny 105 lb body would cause that kind of damage with out him hitting the accelerator. Those indentations need significant force as well.

  5. Probably suffered "roid" rage throughout his career, tour cyclists are juiced to the gills with steroids, hrt & epo use etc. Plenty of sports where performance drugs are heavily used seem to produce random outbursts of anger from individuals at certain moments and domestic violence issues within their homelife is quite common. His sustained tour life where he could channel anger/aggression ending would leave a void if he had a "moment". To be clear, I'm not saying he is currently using or was using PED's but it's highly probable he was throughout a long and successful career. His attitude towards certain things/moments could have been shaped by this tour lifestyle.

  6. There was a situation with Rohan Dennis during Covid Lockdown. He was based in Spain (I think Girona) and he posted on social media his anger at the whole situation – he was basically flouting the restrictions. Some commentators advised him that social media wasn't a good platform for him to advertise his breach of Covid/lockdown rules – he seemed like someone who was suffering mental health issues.

  7. To see Rohan driving home with his kids looking quite calm showing no trauma upon his countenance I thought odd, as I and most would be inconsolably grief stricken.

  8. Him saying "I'm a bit OCD" is him being a narcissist & manipulator who is unwilling to call it what it actually is… that is *he *is
controlling & overbearing to the point of it being abusive.

  9. I can only imagine what this young lady lived with.Constant walking on eggshells, trying to placate him, moods. These people can be charming and then switch in seconds to vicious and nasty. He had everything, yet he was not happy.Such a pathetic way to describe his own controlling, bad, short, temper.I hope justice is served to this man.I think Oscar Pistorius was a similar personality.Justice was not served there.Riva lost her life and he is now a free man! These men are a real threat to women!

  10. I have OCD, diagnosed and rediagnosed by a few different psychiatrists. I can confirm, it's a disorder that makes one controlling and fearful. It's essential to realize you're not being objective, you don't have the right to control everything, and people don't have to do things the way you think is right.

  11. It's the kids I feel sorry for. Leaving aside the last fatal few mins (which is obviously the criminal action for which he's facing charges) then if this was indicative of living in the ex-cyclists house, then actually the kids must have been paying a heavy price. Arguing, one parent stomping out, other parent trying to prevent him leaving by throwing herself on car bonnet. It's all ugly and damaging for kids – the behaviour of both parents – and it's the kind of thing that leads to kids having problems . Obviously it's him that's then took it further and he is rightly facing criminal charges. But it sounds like it would have been a good idea to make a CPS referral before, if this type of high drama arguing was a factor before that night.

  12. ""Her funeral will be held in Perth, where she grew up, with a memorial service also to be held in Adelaide after the Tour Down Under cycling event."" . I know they were both professional cyclists, but I don't know, I find it a bit off that her memorial service is being timed to be after some bike event.

  13. Are you saying he hasn't been cycling or doing anything at all? Surely there's plenty of testosterone venting available through other informal cycling, gym or other activies. Perhaps you're onto something regarding his temper, but in the latest I've read, "it has been reported she allegedly jumped onto the bonnet of the…Volkswagen Amarok… and grabbed at a door handle before the vehicle drove off and she fell to the ground." That does indicate something of a tense situation had developed, but not that he went out of his way to target her, though his temper in the moment seems to have clouded his judgement regarding her safety. It also raises the question of why she would risk herself in that way, including whether she was trying to prevent him harming himself, which would be a tragic irony. My condolences to all her family 😢

  14. Frankly why this creep killed his wife is a lot less important to me than the woman who is no longer here to bring up her children because the p***k killed her in a temper.

  15. A number of pro cyclists have retired promptly in the last few years and some of them went through divorces and depression almost immediately. Is it the stress of the job or something else.

  16. I'll say one thing – I think there's something about some men and cars/driving that taps into their own perceptions of masculinity and power. In some men. There's a reason all those car companies use a lot of phallic imagery in their car advertising to sell cars to men. So adrenaline from arguing, testosterone and the subconscious threat to masculinity may have all played a part.

  17. This is a tragedy indeed. Dennis certainly did not intend to kill his wife but his short fuse exploded and he did something irrational in the heat of the moment which ended up in the death of Melissa. This will haunt him for the rest of his life and he will never be the same, and hopefully cause him to study anger management and improve himself. As far as punishment I see if convicted there is a mandatory 10 year suspension of a driver's licence and up to 15 years in prison. That prison sentence seems a bit harsh. If I was offered the licence suspension and 2 years in prison as a plea deal I would take it. The suspension alone probably not enough, a wealthy guy like him can just hire a driver!

  18. Thank you Nick from TCRS for being vulnerable and allowing us, the audience, into your inner world regarding training and the time there is a lack of – and disclosing how this impacted you emotionally.

I think this is a pertinent factor in Rohan Dennis’s current functioning. I wonder too, whether changes in Rohan’s dopamine levels may also be a part of the picture? It’s well researched that dopamine is at a higher level in athletes due to the training and diet requirements. Research also states that once elite athletes reduce their training, be that due to injury or retirement, that dopamine levels can drop, which can account for symptoms of depression, which can in turn lead manifest in irritability… I wonder whether this neurochemical response may also have contributed to Rohan’s current mental state?

Thanks again Nick from TCRS for your considered analysis of this case… much appreciated! From Australia 🇦🇺

  19. Why would a man fail to address anger issues, especially when he has two small children in the house? The more I learn about neurology and psychology the less impressed I am by the mantras about choice. A lot of explosive men cannot see themselves as dangerous. They experience themselves as small and weak and everyone around them as more powerful. They do not see themselves as others do. They cannot see themselves as fully grown and frightening, and when their wives or children behave with fear it enrages them even more because it is incongruent with their own self image. It does not make sense and it looks like a lie or performance.

  20. How many of these ghoulish videos are you going to make? Find a sense of decency, I rather doubt YouTube is going to monetize this to you for anything. Let Melissa Hopkins rest in peace.

  21. I can’t stand these bullshit excuses about not having cycling as a means to vent. This it family we’re talking about!! This involves children. This guy might be a world class cyclist but he’s a world class scumbag and a murderer. Let’s see how his short fuse works in prison. He’ll be humbled quickly. Only maximum sentence is appropriate

  22. Females adore male egomaniacs. Surprised you didn't know that. What came first – the chicken or the egg? The egg came first – but it didn't come from a chicken.

  23. My god, this is such a butcher piece. Cycling wasn’t taken away from him, he chose to retire.
Furthermore the instances of conflict you refer to throughout his career are la d out without understanding the pressure or context of professional sport. Or the ambition of an athlete.

It would be far more appropriate not to proffer such nonsense opinions and let the legal/judicial system make these judgments.

An appalling click bait attempt for attention for you on this occasion. Very disappointing.
