Looking to get into mountain biking in Washington state, and looking at full suspension mountain bikes. Would like to buy used with a max budget of 800$. A lot of bikes are 1k plus. Stumbled upon this 2009 Gary fisher and am able to get it for 400$? Listed at 550. Is this a decent entry level bike and an ok price? Or should I look for other options. Thanks guys

  1. If you think you might get into mountain biking, I’d say use your budget and get the best bike you can get for the money. I did what you are considering and bought something cheap that I thought was good deal. I rode with friends and couldnt do the terrain they were doing and didn’t really get into it. Friends talked me into spending a bit more and helped me find way more bike for a bit more money. The bike was better suited to what I wanted to do with it and I was hooked. Decide the riding you want to do and go for your budget is my suggestion.

  2. Looks like a size L or XL for a 6 foot plus rider?

If you are 6 foot or taller then consider a more modern used 29″ wheel hardtail.

If you were short for a small frame then sure an older small frame 26″ wheel bike can be a decent option.
