For the last couple years I have been riding a Trek 1000 road bike, aluminum. I like going fast, and it has served me well.
At the same time, I have been tempted to go carbon. Just for a lighter bike… maybe I can go faster and better hang with my buddies on climbs.
I found this [Cannondale Synapse](https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/bik/d/culver-city-cannondale-synapse-carbon/7704557696.html) on Craigslist for $1000.
I can’t figure out what year it is, to research it further. Can anyone advise? Does it look like a good bike overall?
Another option I saw, for the same price, was this [Specialized Roubaix (2006)](https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/bik/d/santa-monica-specialized-roubaix-52/7703366467.html).
My current bike is a 51cm, and I’ve got the seat raised a bit, so I think I’m a 51/52/53. I’m about 5 foot 7 inches.
Generally I ride my road bike for fitness/sport. Rides ranging from 20 miles to 60 miles. I like to go fast, 17-20 mph if possible. Almost always on roads/bike paths.
