yoo, im saving up for a fixie and im wondering what to pick between the tsunami snm4130 and the tsunami snm100 considering that I live in the Philippines. with the 4130, it has its pros and cons like yes it’s much more cheaper and durable yet it’s more high maintenance considering that it’s a steel frame. and with the snm100, it’s price is a little bit higher but more aerodynamic and lighter than the 4130 considering that’s it’s an alloy frame but some say that it can break more easily. i will just be using it as a way of transportation for school and the occasional rides with friends and again I don’t want a high maintenance bike (sorry for the bad grammar and english)

  1. If you’re just using it for transportation and fun rides, get what your heart desires!

Steel isn’t necessary more maintenance but does have the chance of rusting. That being said, I’ve ridden my steel bike through sand, salt, and humidity with no issues. Is there rust on my bike? Yes. But a little surface rust isn’t an issue if you just clean it up and apply a little clear coat on top.

Alloy won’t rust, but in a humid place like the Philippines, you do technically have the risk of the alloy corroding.

TLDR- buy what makes you happy since both bikes still need some maintenance!

  2. I heavily prefer steel to alloy, way more comfortable and shouldn’t require any more maintenence. Also looks like the 4130 will have less toe-overlap.
