I used this extension thing on Amazon.

I had the same problem and this fixed it.

  2. You can put the lock vertically or horizontally on the rear rack. I just put a water bottle in my bag if at all. I realize that I never need to drink on my 4 mile commute. Water only becomes important at 15 miles or more, for me.

  3. Lock on the underside of the top tube. If your bottle and holder won’t fit on the down tube with the lock all the way back, push it as far forward as it’ll fit and then get two hose clamps and mount it on the seat tube. A few wraps of electrical tape on the frame will keep the hose clamps from scratching.

U lock mounts are the worst. A ski strap on a rear rack is the best way to tote your lock. These are iron clad opinions.

  5. From the first picture, take the lock & mount off and hold them next to the frame rail just like in the picture.

Turn the lock over in your hands so the frame mount is now in your left hand instead of your right with the “U” still pointing down.

Then rotate the lock 90° clockwise. You should be able to reattach the mount to the top bar just forward of the seatpost.

With the lock up in the upper right corner of the triangle and pointed towards the front of the bike you should have plenty of room for your bottle cage.

Edit to say: You might need to shim the tube with some rubber hose or something. Those frame tubes have some unusual geometry.
