Recently bought a Grail 7, I want to convert to 1x. Has anyone done this conversion that can help me with which components to buy ? I was looking at this 11×46. Would I also need new cranks to do a single chain ring up front ? I ride a 1x MTB.

This cassette will work (with the rd rx812 rear derailleur) but it’s nearly maxing out the b limit screw. (rd rx812 is designed to work with 11-42 cassettes). You would need the rear dereilleur, a new chainring (grx fc rc600/810 cranks are designed to work with the double rings or a single narrow wide ring). You can keep the left shifter or you swap it for something like the bl rx600. I’ve switched my bike from 1×11 to 1×12 and I’ve tried the 11-46 cassette before.
