So I currently have these RT-MT800 rotors on my gravel wheelset with internal spline lock rings and just purchased a second set for my road wheels, but these came with external lock rings. My question is will these external lock rings work with my 12mm thru-axle or do I need to run the internal lock rings? My bike is a Canyon Grizl cf sl with GRX group set

As long as they clear the frame and axle they’re compatible. The externals are usually for cases where a 15mm MTB axle doesn’t clear the internal ones. Functionally they’re identical.
