Why didn’t you take a pic showing the lower half of the dropout. No clue whether axle is even fully inside the dropout from this pic.
Short answer is yes.
What setup are you trying to achieve?
If it’s a single-speed (i.e., a freewheeling system), then you should add a few more links, & use a chain tensioner of some sort (https://surlybikes.com/parts/singleator)
If it’s a fixed-gear, then you should look into using a [half-link](https://www.universalcycles.com/search.php?q=half+link).
I’d add a half link just to be safe. They are typically a couple bucks and your LBS might have one. Is this a 1/8” chain?
Honestly, I’ve been riding the exact same thing for a few weeks now and it’s fine, just make sure you tighten those nuts real tight and re tighten them after every few rides just in case, if you decide not to get a new chain that is.
