The Affric Kintail Way is a fully signposted, superb cross-country route for walkers and mountain bikers stretching almost 44 – ish miles from Drumnadrochit on Loch Ness to Morvich in Kintail by Loch Duich. Given the proximity to the Great Glen Way (Inverness – Fort William) it is quite possible to extend your route to/from Drumnadrochit to Inverness and enjoy a spectacular coast to coast trek.

The AKW is recommended for experienced travellers and takes in a variety of landscapes with stunning views – ancient drove roads which used to take cattle to market from the west coast, deep lochs, towering glens, ancient woodlands, The Glen Affric National Nature Reserve and an optional stay at the Alltbeithe Youth Hostel the most remote in the Highlands. Some sections can be quite strenuous and there is in excess of 6000 feet of ascent over the course of the trail.

  1. Brilliant adventure guys, well done. 👏 Always fancied that. Never thought aboot the 2 wheels tho 🚴🚴‍♂️ Food for thought.

  2. Fabulous 😊 thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos and share them👏 😀 …from a fellow Fatbiker in the Highlands (..aren’t they just the best bikes? ) 😊

  3. What an adventure, and a great watch for us. The scenes of you both cycling with and past the camera were worth your extra mileage. Your happiness together makes the video.

  4. reminds me of my trip across cairngorms in May. Great start from Aviemore and end into Braemar but the half between, no path or road…nightmare with a bike. no riding for 8 miles in wet, cold steep stretches. Think carefully before heading out

  5. Awesome adventure. Very inspiring. Glen Affric is definitely on my bucket list. My ancestors, the Clan MacLennan are from the Kintail region. I can't wait to go back for a visit and to ride.

  6. Really enjoyed this video. Is there any particular reason you were pushing your bikes up the hills rather than just using the electric motor to take you up? Those are awesome-looking bikes by the way.

  7. Fantastic video. Id planned on doing this ride this year. Real life cocked that up.

What pannier rack & bags are your Mrs using on her fatty ? I need a set for my Commando.

  8. You two are showcasing what Scotland offers to stunning effect. Outside Scandinavia there's little freedom like it. One thing though; why do some Scottish YouTubers (I live vicariously too much 🤔) avoid the traditional ch sound? Cannick? I had to look it up.

  9. Hi Dave & Lisa, great video and very beautiful and inspirational! ..just wondering what bikes model you’re riding and which packing system? Was thinking Ortlieb but any advice welcome..Cheers & happy riding..😊🙌🏻💯

  10. Hi both, super trip and film! We know the path well that joins the Cape Wrath Trail. Looks tougher on a bike than walking! Take care out ther. Mick & Rose.👍😊🙋‍♂️

  11. I love the feel and vibe of your video. It was an excellent mood. What a wonderful trail! I would love to ride it one day.
I'm interested in your fat bikes. My bikepacking bike is a fat bike too. Can you please tell us about your setup?
Keep safe, keep well and keep on with your adventures.

  12. Must be nice to actually have a bus stop at a bus stop in Europe. Some of the places I've been the bus drivers are in a hurry for their next cigarette break, or are behind schedule (from taking too long a previous cigarette break), and simply drive on by.
