  1. Not sure this is it but I had a rattling in my new bike and it was a loose brake rotor.

  2. Idk it Sounds normal to me. If you hold the brakes when you do this to eliminate wheel motion does it still make a sound that is troubling?

The interesting part is when you hit it with your foot. If it was your headset I doubt it would make that sound by tapping the tire. To me that sounds like a fork rattle, or pad rattle, but typically sram brakes don’t have pad rattle. Could be a loose volume spacer in the fork. Could be something else loose in the fork. Could be cable rattle.

    1. Remove the brake pads, then test.
    2. Remove the front wheel and check the bearings and whether the hub has preload adjust.
    3. Try to pull and rattle the cables with your hands and compare that sound to see if it’s similar.
    4. Check the crown bolts
    5. Check the rebound knob
    6. Try to shake the bike without dropping it on the ground.

Not an exhaustive list but give it a shot, trying to make a bike quiet is very hard (once you know everything is adjusted properly that is). I’ve been working in shops and riding bikes since 2009 and I am always striving to improve how quiet my MTB is.

  4. I just got the same bike and had the same problem. Took the headset apart and regressed and torqued everything and it went away

  5. I have the same bike. The rear triangle is shaped to protect the derailleur.. my derailleur smacks the rear triangle all the time.. I jammed a piece of rubber between the two to verify.

  6. A lot of times when I have a clicking noise it’s my headset for some reason. Regressing everything usually helps.

It’s the headset , I had a war with the headset that came on my Commencal supreme , ended up taking it completely apart and was successful with motorex and muc-off grease

  8. Is YT direct to consumer? If so or if you purchased it directly from them, maybe drop them a message with this vid and see if they’d cover getting it checked out at your local shop.

  9. on my YT it was the cap that on top of the rebound adjustment of the fork lol it was loose and rattling
