Hi everybody.
I bought an aluminiom MTB less than two months ago and I did a few rides on cycleways in my hometown.
Today while I was cleaning the bike I noticed a defect in a welding. Should I worry about it? My concern is about safety and the durability of the frame. I’m thinking of contacting the seller’ customer service but I would like to hear your opinions.

its a small pin hole in the weld. it shouldn’t/wont effect the strength or long term durability of the weld. i wouldn’t worry about it
It’s safe and it’s durable. You’re fine.
Weld porosity is definitely a defect in manufacturing. I doubt yours will ever cause a failure, but you’d be justified in making a warranty inquiry or claim.
I would contact the vendor and get it on record at the least
Shouldn’t be anything to worry about. It’s not uncommon with TIG welding aluminum when the welder cuts off the juice. I would expect this on mass-produced frames. If it were custom, I’d discuss it with the builder.
Cube really do be having low quality welds sometimes :/
Always depends on the welders skill and most of all if it was done on a Monday or Friday.
I wouldn’t worry about it especially if the frame has a lifetime warranty anyways.
That’s a start-stop point in the weld. Should be fine.
This isn’t a defect, it’s where they stopped welding.
Completely normal and won’t cause any issues.
That would be a very unusual point for a bike to fail. It spends most of it’s life in compression which means a fatigue crack is far less likely to initiate.
