Hello,
I want to decide which aero bars will I fit to my ultra cycling setup, I plan to do an 800 km race having 12k m of elevation in a 60%gravel-40%road course, I can’t choose between the Profile Designs
Supersonic Ergo 35c and
Supersonic Ergo 50c
Looks like 35c is the most popular choice and seems more aero, but the other one presents itself with an additional hand posture so I’m a bit confused.
I also wanted to know if Carbon Fiber aero bars are recommended for ultra, given that carbon brings lightweight but don’t know about the durability that a carbon aerobar turn out to be under intense and prolonged usage.
Hope someone helps me with some insights.

Profile bars have the pads fixed to the clamp, so are relatiely fixed in possition. Pro aero bars allow for more movement, so are better, especially when adding to a bike not designed for them.
When riding with aerobars, your hands basically do nothing, its one of the best parts of using them at ultras. So multiple possitions dont matter much. Having your wrists rest in a natural posdition is most important.
Carbon aerobars arent any lighter, and the forgiveness doesnt really matter. Honestly the only benifit of carbon is it doesnt get cold.
