I had the pleasure of catching up with April Drage and have her share her experiences of racing in the 2023 Tour Divide Race. April discoverd a love for bikepacking a number of years ago and she hasn’t looked back ever since. She first started participating in bikepacking events in 2020 for the Race to the Rock event which that year went from Adelaide to Uluru. She was hooked and has taken many adventures since including the Rhino Run in 2022 where she finished as first female.

The Tour Divide had been a longterm goal for April and this year she made that a reality as she turned up to the start line of the event. What was clear when I spoke with April was just how much fun she has riding her bike in this manner. It isn’t so much a competitive race to her – she is in her element loading her bike up and riding for endless hours off-road. But that isn’t to say she is a slouch – indeed she finished the Tour Divide in under 19 days!

You can hear her talk about her experiences now on episode 48 of Seek Travel Ride – available on all podcast players or directly via [https://www.seektravelride.com/podcast-ep-48/](https://www.seektravelride.com/podcast-ep-48/)

I think you will agree with me when I say her enthusiasm for these adventures is infectious.
