To tell you now is about a little girl named Maria who she was having some stomach pain throughout the day but when she went to bed her stomach felt like it was on fire so she calls mom mom mom my stomach feels like it’s on fire goes
Over puts her hand on her stomach and of course you know she flinches and she puts her hand on her forehead and realizes oh you know you’re burning up Pi her up changes her and takes her to the car and they go downtown to the cling clinic and of course the nurse
Checks her in and asks her some questions the doctor also sees her and they run some tests and it’s conclusive she has appendicitis now what’s appendicitis it’s when your appendix get R gets really infected and inflamed and it’s bad and so much so it was that bad they
Had to take it out so he called the hospital a couple blocks down and saying I’m going to send this patient her name is Maria so he picked her up put her in the car and drove the two blocks down to where they were met by a nurse and he as
As he possibly could picked her up put her on the gurny and wheeled her back so she didn’t hurt and then they went in they gave her the medication and the Anastasia to where she would just go to sleep and she wouldn’t feel a thing she
Woke up the next day after the procedure the doctor came in and explained everything that happened during the procedure she was good to go it’s going to take maybe a week but you’ll be all right well she hung out with her mom in the waiting room her mom had not left
Her side and she had a new teddy bear and puzzle waiting for her but as she was playing with the teddy bear and as she was putting the puzzle together she was thinking mom why did God allow this to happen to me and why didn’t the god
That you know stop it and heal me to think about it she said honey I know you’re healthy and everything but sometimes you know we just don’t always understand everything but God did help you God did heal you he used the doctors and the nurses and all the people around
You who’ve been bringing you food and checking on you he used these individuals to make a difference and to help heal you she’s like okay cool now later on she also asked well what about the scars it’s going to be with me permanently she said yeah unfortunately
You know it’s a big surgery but guess what think of this as a way as a good reminder of God’s faithfulness that he helped save you because guess what you could have stayed in hospital for longer there are many people that God is using to make make a difference in the world
And God wants you to be a part of that and you don’t have to be a doctor or a nurse but be can you know maybe donate to the food bank or visit the elderly you can help somebody with their homework you can help your mom put the
Laundry away and do the dishes there are so many things that we can do you know even just listening to somebody who’s having a bad day can make a difference and not only that even when we get hurt guess what God wants to help heal us and
Sometimes he uses other people to be part of that process but one of the biggest takeaways is where was Mom in all this that was going on she was right there with her and brought her to the hospital and you know what moms dads aunties uncles
Granny’s they all do so much for you and I want you especially because it’s the end of the year we’re supposed to be thankful and have gratitude for everything they do for us so what have you guys learned from this story I’ve kind of told you but in your own words nobody’s learned
Anything so nobody’s learned anything I’ll tell you what I learned uh from this story I’ve learned that even if bad things happen it’s a way for you to realize how many people are there to help you and how God is always like there to help and heal

Home his parents taught him in his school lessons at home when rishan wasn’t studying he enjoyed work he enjoyed worked in the Family Garden work in the Family Garden as his hands pulled weeds he memorized Bible verses the children The Village children became Ran’s friends friends they saw
That he was a kind and gentle boy they liked to visit rishan in his house rishan played church with the children and introduced the children to Jesus he told them about people who lived in Bible times like Adam and Eve Noah and the Ark David and Goliath and Daniel in
The Lion’s Den he told them that Jesus died on the cross so everyone who believes in him can live with Jesus forever he show them how to pray to Jesus dear God he said thank you for being our very best friend please give us a heart of love for you and for

No how good were you you were good good this year yeah kept to those pledges I was terrible I started off really really well it started off really bad actually so started the the year at 103 at my best I got to 94 thought things were going to go really really well guess
What went back on 103 again what’s happening anybody have any um advice they can give to me G we say we were going to do some cycling boy that would have helped big time you know just didn’t get that that bike is still rusting in my
Shed and I was really looking forward to it but um as we close the year there is something that happened that that had me thinking a lot and as it was part of my nervousness at the moment is the fact that this morning I got up and I changed
The whole sermon so what I intended to actually speak about um had to change and it had to change because um I started get in chest pains people how old am I oh a young fell I’m only 36 you know um okay okay it is sabath it’s sabath it’s sabath it’s sabath
Yeah um sorry I I take that back why are you laughing do you know I anyway um yeah started getting some pains in my chest and thought that’s that’s a little bit strange a little bit funny um but I was ignoring it if I’m to be honest with you I think I’ve been
Having this for a long time a few years yeah so uh when it just began I thought you know what it’s the night you know those of us who work you tend to eat a little bit later than you really should have because the next next thing when you get
Home R and truly next thing is bed and you shouldn’t really be going to bed on a full stomach bad habit so I decided you know what as soon as I get home I’m going to eat and that will be it last meal if I have anything it would be
Probably a cup of you know those herbal teas or chocolate or something so that seem to be working really really working and and so I have kind of done a self diagnosis it’s some sort of gastric problem I have I can’t exactly pin it down it might be a hiatus
Hernia it could be gastritis it could be a whole lot of things right um but anyway so that was going smoothly and then of course slip back into the bad habits right um so the chest pane came about about a month ago it came bad boy
Really really really bad so bad that I actually felt there was a lump coming up here I don’t know if it was my imagination it could be you know but you you know when when you start thinking about your health especially as you start getting cuz I’ll tell you
Something I’m sure all of us who start getting to roughly about 35 you start losing if it’s not members of your family you start losing people who you sat in class with you know your classmates at in their 30s and 40s dying so you start thinking is this thing
Coming for me boy you know so all sorts of strange things go through your head you start thinking the worst right um and the worst of worse is that c word we ain’t going to mention it but you know that c word but anyway cut the long
Story short um I decid to book a um appointment with my GP right so I I said to the girls at work let me get a day off I didn’t tell them what I was taking the day off for um called the GP they say Bo we only have an appointment
For 2 weeks I said no your boy Fit and Well that’s fine I can wait the two weeks don’t worry about it so the two weeks was coming up and the day was coming for from for the appointment and you know it’s just a five of us in the
Office and then you know so so Junior tomorrow you’re off yeah what you planning to do boy and like don’t really want to say what I’m planning to do don’t want to have that conversation with them I was trying to keep it on the DL yeah did I use that well young people
The DL see how I slip that in there yeah so I was trying to keep it oh you didn’t know I’m younger than you anyway so um so yeah so so I was trying to keep it as quiet as I possibly can but you know and I work with ladies you know men
You ask a question you don’t get answer you’re kind of all right you didn’t want to see so you you but ladies boy oh my goodness so they start to interrogate me and then I I said well look listen actually no I I ain’t doing anything important really I’m just going to see
The GP and um I didn’t want to come to work and then have to fly back down because it takes sometimes you know 45 minutes to get down you know want to take my time have a easyd oh so what’s wrong my chest Sur right oh you should
Have a obviously I work in a hospital right there’s a ECG machine right outside the door there’s you know OBS machine there there there there’s all the different equipment to take Bloods all the works went on so they take Bloods they took an ECG they took my
Blood pressure and I was really trying to avoid it because I’m not feeling unwell it’s just a chest pain I said JP could look at that I have time I’m buying time I ain’t clutching my chest I’m going oh oh my heart you know so
They did what they had to do I’m kind of kind of kind of grateful that we did it because in the end it shows that um well we still have to do other Diagnostics to rule out things but it it seems as though I’m having what you call an ACS
And for those it’s an acute coronary syndrome so that could be a whole host of things it could be a mild heart attack it could the I don’t know angina you know for those you know so the the blood to the heart isn’t really pumping as it should
Or it’s it’s yeah yeah sort of the blood to the heart isn’t getting there as it should I don’t think that is it I think it’s more gastric than that and sometimes when you do an ECG that can come up because it’s all about muscles and and electrical impulses that are
Flying through right um but anyway the blood results came back and everything was fine except my cholesterol is high and my triglycerides are elevated um and this is the first time that has actually happened you know over the years you know you kind of do it
Just to do a check um and I know what the culprit is I believe I know what the culprit is cheese hey Lord have mercy if you know how much I love cheese too much you know sometimes I will just I will slice a piece of cheese and say
Okay just a little sice because I just want the taste put it in my mouth and before I know it half the cheese gone I that’s bad that is really really really bad so I put the culprit down to to to cheese now even though it’s elevated it is not that elevated but
That is the problem the moment you look at these results and you say to yourself it’s not that bad it could be worse than you think okay so again before you lose it I I really kind of wanted to go into this Sermon Just for us to look at just three things that
I think we all should be able to do this year and the first of all H next year you’re right thanks for the correction I actually have I have written here the new year you know but you know thanks um so just three things three things I’m sure you can have your
Own list but just kind of hear me out first of all stop making excuses that’s the first and foremost thing stop making excuses and it’s part of our life life isn’t it excuses we we kind of do it without really thinking about it now not all
Excuses are bad excuses is it you know if you’re genuinely sick and you phone in to your boss and you say Hey listen I’m really not feeling well this morning I can’t make it into work that’s that’s genuine you have a really good excuse for not being at work but you know there
Are other excuses that are not too good yeah any Sky you want to give us a not so good excuse what about the why I didn’t do the homework one anybody can remember what are some of the excuses you had back in the day why you didn’t do the
Homework well I could tell you my my my book was always wet always wet I don’t know how it get it just got wet I mean Trinidad is a country that when it rains it rains and it rains hell heavy all my books were wet so I you know I couldn’t present I
Had to throw it in a bin you know excuses so some excuses are not too bad and some excuses are really bad there is a a character that I think about when I think about not making excuses and and it’s a king who got himself in a real sticky situation yeah
He during the M midst of a battle finds himself on a rooftop and he was peeping anybody know what peeping is he was a Peeping Tom yeah he saw something probably shouldn’t have seen and he kept looking sister s talked about it a few weeks ago a couple weeks
Ago and he just kept looking and before you knew it one thing led to another and somebody died real sticky situation to find yourself in isn’t it what’s incredible about this guy is that once all of that was over now this was it was a disgraceful thing to find because if you
Think about it yeah the this this was the same guy who was a Shepherd boy and he wrote things like you know the Lord is my shepherd I shall not yeah do I walk through the valley of the shadow of evil no of death I will fear no evil yeah
David that David you know blessed is the man that walth not in the councel of the ungodly nor stand that in the way of Sinners nor sit at in the SE this that David that David found himself in this situation found himself in this situation but once everything was over
And the dust was clear and you know Ellen G white actually wrote that in a sense it is his overconfidence that got him into that situation that he you know he should have known better I mean he wrote these things after all so he knew better but
He found himself there but we we’re talking about no excuses don’t make excuses that same David also wrote Psalms 51 and if you can remember have mercy upon me oh God according to thy loving kindness according to thy tender mer blot out my transgression you know
What I like about it as well this is where David really kind of comes into his own and you can see that he’s truly contrite for what he’s done against thee and the only have I sinned and done this evil in thy side that thou mightest be
Fear when thou judgest yeah and be clear when thou be fair when thou speakest and be clear when thou judgest yeah that David that is the David who God says is a man after my own heart so rather than making excuses what does he do he
Repents and he says to God hands up I am at fault and we see after that how his life really did make that turnout so I’m saying to you this year do what you can to not make excuses don’t be like Moses and Gideon you know Moses what did Moses
Say when God chose him yeah I listen I’m not really good with words you know I I’m I’m like that actually every time I think about about myself I think that I’m really like Moses I’m not really that good with words I I told you I hate doing this you
Know and and and and and I always laugh because when you then read the Bible so so God did what with Moses he he sends Aaron and he says okay your brother Aaron is coming and he will do when you read the scripture do you see Aaron speaking
Anywhere nowhere do you see Aaron actually speaking it’s all Moses going before the Pharaoh let my people go and the Lord said etc etc Moses started to speak even though he made the excuse that I will not speak I don’t know what your excuses are but during this year
Try not to make any excuses no more excuses secondly seek to have a genuine relationship with God know I these things sorry ah d there we go these devices are very tricky at times you know they do things that you don’t want them to do right so seek um a genuine relationship
With God um some of you may have seen it because it’s been going around for for a few years now a couple years now there’s a young lady on on on Facebook who and and I’ll read it because you know I I thought it was very interest interesting
Yeah she was talking about a relationship that she had that she had to let go of and and to me the theme is really do you want with God forgiveness do you want Fellowship something to think about so her name is Nona Jones so listen to what
She wrote right about five years ago I broke fellowship with someone I had once considered a close friend they had been using me and the pain of that recognition crushed me deeply it took years and years of prayer forg foress and self-work to heal I had cut off all contact with them
As part of that healing process but they resurfaced last month and asked to meet and apologize for what happened 80% of me said no but I listened to the 20% of me that said yes because I was genuinely curious about what they had to say within 5 minutes of
Talking They begged for my forgiveness and explained how they never meant to hurt me they explained how they had been dealing with traumatic events on their end and because of it they ex they did sorry and because of it they didn’t value our friendship the way they should
Have I explained that I had forgiven them years ago in order to heal without being bitter but they insisted on having me tell them I forgive you so I did they let out a sigh of relief and changed the sub subject to more mundane things like family and
Careers despite them asking me to be friends again as the days pass I didn’t hear from them again and God gave me a revelation sometimes we apologize to relieve guilt not to restore relationship my former friend didn’t make an effort to rectify the damage that was done because they were
Satisfied with simply knowing they were forgiven and this is where the Holy Spirit started teaching me how many of us transgress against God then seek his forgiveness but not his Fellowship how many of us repent to relieve guilt but not to restore relationship with God my former friend
Simply embodies the way many many of us treat God we want access but not accountability as soon as we feel forgiveness wash over us we hop off our knees splash some water across our face and Skip away like all is well and all is not
Well God help me see how I look to him when I want to be forgiven but not surrendered sometimes the pain we feel is simply an echo of the pain we have caused may we never be satisfied with the shallow forgiveness without the Deep work of
Repentance he that had an he let him hear what the spirit says so stop making excuses seek to have a genuine relationship with God and what you need to weigh up in your in your heads now is it just forgiveness you want from God or do you want to genuinely have fellowship with
Him and then finally for this coming year try your best to stop living in fear you know believe it or not I suffer from anxiety I do I probably don’t look it and every time I say that people say really and I’m like yes I do I suffer
From anxiety I start thinking about things that hasn’t actually happened and you know the thing about fear is that some of it is genuine yeah but sometimes the thing that the fear itself is not as big as as the thing that you act no is bigger than the thing
That you actually fear if that makes any sense sometimes the thing that you actually fear isn’t as big as the fear that you experience you you in your yourself and and thing about fear as well is that it leaves us feeling unsettled and insecure doubting yourself worth you have sleeping problems even health
Problems and you worry about tomorrow which isn’t even here so what can you do to overcome fear and what can you do to find the strength to go on I have a few texts and you know them very well Psalm 46 verse 1 and 2 God is our refuge and
Strength always ready to says the Bible say you know in the KGB says a presentent help but this this this version says always ready to help in times of trouble so we will not fear when even earthquakes come or the mountains scrumble into the sea in John
