The Duchess of Cambridge wore a green outfit for the Tour de France launch.
On July 5, 2014, a delightful surprise unfolded as The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, opted to wear a previously showcased outfit. She graced the occasion once more, introducing the Tour de France in her favored green wool coat by Erdem. This ensemble was last seen during her visit to New Zealand earlier in the year for the Royal tour.

The tiny Peter Pan collar and the charming top-to-bottom zip feature added an adorable touch to her appearance. Wearing Erdem not only highlighted her fashion-forward choices but also showcased her familiarity with renowned fashion designers. The color of the outfit complemented her perfectly.

It’s noteworthy that The Duchess of Cambridge is in excellent company, as celebrities like Emma Watson, Alexa Chung, and Kate Bosworth have been spotted wearing romantic designs by Erdem. The formal launch of this year’s Tour de France took place with the presence of Prince William, Kate, and Harry at the starting line at Leeds Harewood House.

The honor of cutting the ribbon, symbolizing the commencement of the 101st Tour de France, was bestowed upon The Duchess of Cambridge. She beamed with a smile as she, assisted by Prince William and Prince Harry, officially announced the start of the event.

During a crucial stage of the Tour de France, British cyclist Mark Cavendish unfortunately crashed out only yards from the Finish Line. In response, The Duchess of Cambridge presented the prized yellow jersey to Marcel Kittle of Germany. Despite Cavendish’s hopes to win the yellow jersey in his mother’s hometown of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, he lost the tour due to a dislocated right shoulder and ligament damage. The cycling champion fell to the ground just 380 yards (350 meters) from the finish, an incident that made Prime Minister David Cameron, who was watching the inaugural stage with his son, cringe.

The formal inauguration of this year’s tour’s first stage was conducted by The Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by Prince William and Prince Harry. During this significant moment, The Duchess presented the coveted yellow jersey to Marcel Kittle from Team Giant Shimano.

In today’s historic first stage, all 198 riders lined up in the heart of Leeds for the grand depart, attracting over a million cycling enthusiasts to the streets of Yorkshire. Despite attempting to secure victory in the opening stage, Mark Cavendish’s ambitions were thwarted when he collided with Australian cyclist Simon Gerunds in the frantic finish.

The British cycling racer, aiming for his first yellow jersey and the 26th Tour stage victory of his career, faced a setback as he dislocated his right shoulder in the forceful fall. Transported to Harrogate District Hospital for treatment, Cavendish demonstrated resilience by getting back on his bike and crossing the finish line. His wife, Peter Todd, and two-year-old daughter, Delilah, followed him in a team car to the hospital in an ambulance.

Medical professionals reported that Cavendish’s right shoulder and collarbone were separated as he hit the pavement, based on an MRI conducted after the collision. After careful consideration, the 29-year-old cyclist decided that he could not continue the tour with his Omega Pharma Quick-Step Squad. Reflecting on the incident, Cavendish expressed regret, admitting fault for the crash and expressing his intention to personally apologize to Simon Gerunds. He acknowledged searching for a nonexistent gap in his pursuit of victory, emphasizing his disappointment.
