S2: E1 – I sail down to Cuxhaven via the Kiel Canal in November. The port is closed! Now in English.

After the storm Ciaran has passed, I start my sailing down to Portugal, which is the destination before Christmas. In the first episode, I sail down to Cuxhaven in Germany.

Wait until it’s too late you don’t need a big boat or a super boat just a safe boat and that doesn’t mean it must be 45 ft minus 32 ft uh that’s 10 m and uh two persons uh can live very comfortable on it uh it’s a also it’s a good size for

Single-handed sailing uh big sales means big forces when they get stuck so it’s not always better with big especially if you sail alone sometimes hello and so I started my trip to uh from Sweden to Portugal and raining 6° outside uh and uh yeah you couldn’t

Expect much better way this time of the year uh so uh now I’m on my way from uh SC Sweden and uh down to ke and uh we go to k Canal North Canal and which the other side comes out in outside Hambur W the uh wind direction is not really on my side so I decide to take a stop and rest a little in Danish Road shpping it’s a small village with about 4,500 People Y The wind direction is still the same from South but uh yeah it’s not uh Gale anymore so I decide to go forward because I don’t want to stay here too long W I reached ke late in the evening and U slept a little bit too long in the morning so I I stay here for two days because you can only pass the canal the Kil canal in the day in daylight and the the day are short Now PlayStation was out of order but you can pay on internet also and I did that so now I’m on my way in the kale Canal this is the first Lock Here is a lot of people fishing in the canal and some also have a tent uh that’s a little bit surprising I thought it should be almost dead from fish because there is so much traffic here with big ships and so but yeah they are here so probably there is some type of

Fish Just like the Swedish y Channel you can uh cycle along the channel from I think the whole way and there is a small part on both sides as the daylight is not so many hours in November I had to stop here in rbur uh next upop would have been too Late Nice place this uh it’s a little bit stop in the channel and uh for me um there is not really a rush to come out in the North Sea because it’s bad weather there and it’s Tuesday today and uh uh it looks like uh the weather is going to change a

Little so on Friday will be a good day to start where at at noon or something like that so I stay here in this little place and U and probably tomorrow Bruns ble and then I stay there a night Also Finally I am in the Bruns but lock and uh I’m alone uh on the other side is El and it’s uh the tide is going in the right direction so it will go fast out to Cak Good evening today is 9th November and I’m in CX Haven and uh this place was exciting to enter with almost five kns of a current outside and uh small narrow entron and uh yeah it can be a little bit tricky but everything went well um I’m alone in

The marina it’s closed uh there so uh I’m the only boat here and uh uh there’s no electricity there is no water nothing and I’m also uh locked in because I tried to take a yogging tour and but I couldn’t come out from of the Marina u and

Uh the weather hasn’t been so good for the last weeks we have the CR on storm u in U one two weeks ago and and uh also uh it has has been gray rainy and a lot of gales all the time so uh but about tomorrow morning uh I think I

Have a window so I can uh sail down to leand it has to be beating the wind not tacking hopefully um and uh I hope I can reach there before Monday because uh on Monday another Gale is coming in so I will stay there and and be there during that Gale
