Hi. I’m looking to get into bike touring come spring and pick up this Devinci Passport for a couple hundos Canadian. That suits my meager budget. Anyone knows anything thing about this model, particularly if it suits gravel roads? How is the Deore derailleur? The original owner did some long trips (e.g. Yellowknife to Whitehorse, Yellowknife to Banff…).
I don’t have any experience with cleat shoes and plan to change to normal pedals. Also I see most touring bikes seem to have both long fenders. This one front fender has the lower 3rd broke off. I could just leave it that way, or take both fenders off, or replace them (pros/cons?).
Also when I tried to remove the lose stem that used to connect to the now missing part of the front fender, the small screw/bolt that fastens through the front rack and the 2 stems to hold the front fender in place wouldn’t screw back in passed the now omitted stem, like it runs out of thread. Does it mean the screw was made specifically to accommodate the 3 items and would not screw in passed that now that I only have the 1 stem plus the rack? I was tempted to cut off the extra stem leaving the part at the screw like a gasket. Or should I look for another screw, or force it to thread on? I definitely want to have the front rack on for long trip. Please help me with some advices on this.

Dude, this fork looks hella bent to me. This bike was crashed.
Look for another screw. It could be that the threads on the screw are damaged and forcing them in could damage the thread on the bike
I do agree with u/MariachiArchery that the fork looks bent. If the rest of the frame is fine you can replace the fork. I’ve heard of people straightening steel forks but that’s a bit of ‘your life, your risk’ sort of proposition.
