I’m new to using a bike to commute to work, been doing so for a few months. I currently have an e bike, included a pic. I do like it but I also want a normal bike. I like the way this bike rides (even when I don’t have it on) but it is heavy. Anything upright and light for commuting 5 days a week on the road for a woman? Budget is $500, maybe more if it’s a great bike.

  1. gummibearhawk on

For 7 miles? That’s cruising bike. It’ll be comfortable but not fast. For that distance I’d want something a bit more efficient. Your call.

  2. Hybrid / urban / commuter / fitness bikes.

    [Specialized Sirrus X 2.0](https://www.specialized.com/us/en/sirrus-x-2-0/p/200210?color=322034-200210) $619.

    [Cannondale Quick 40](https://www.rei.com/product/170075/cannondale-quick-4-womens-bike) $739.

Both have good 1 by drive trains, rigid forks, hydraulic disc brakes.

Lower cost will usually have mechanical disc or rim brakes, heavier 3x drive train and heavy suspension forks that don’t do much except add weight.

Or do you want a step through frame like your cruiser but on a better lighter faster bike?

  3. If you want another Beaumont in budget, however the Specialized and Cannondale I listed are well worth the extra cost.
