Didn’t want to waste another tube so walked for a while and got picked up. Didn’t hit anything, thing the tyre just failed.
Interested to hear what others might do in this situation. Will start carrying a spare tyre for my longer trips now for sure

No roadside fix I know of, but carrying a spare tire seems like an overabundance of caution. It’s not like this happens a lot, and I’d wager that the tire showed signs before it failed to this degree.
