British Cycling is to ban transgender women from the female category of its competitions following a nine-month review and consultation.

Under a new participation policy that the governing body said was “predicated on fairness”, such athletes will compete in an ‘open category’ with men.

The female category will be “for those whose sex was assigned female at birth”.

The changes will prevent rider Emily Bridges – the country’s highest profile transgender cyclist – potential being part of the British women’s team.

  1. Minor children experiencing gender dysphoria risk permanent disfigurement and lifelong health care issues from medical professionals who perform medical treatments to modify their natural gender. Minor children are prescribed puberty-blocking drugs, cross-sex hormone therapies, and are subjected to mutilating surgeries. These procedures carry extreme consequences for children, as their effects range from bone density problems to fertility issues.

Gender dysphoria is a mental health condition that often resolves itself, yet parents are being told by medical professionals that unless permanent, physically altering treatments are received, a child is more likely to commit suicide. Health care providers who prescribe or perform many of these medical treatments are maiming children for life, and unfortunately, the suicide rate for these surgical and drug treatment patients remains extremely high.

Studies show that up to 94 percent of childhood gender dysphoria cases are alleviated by puberty or otherwise resolve on their own. Medical care professionals should not be allowed to apply permanent, non-reversible treatment for a condition that so often resolves with time. The responsible medical community agrees that these treatments and surgeries are harmful and are not a solution to the problem of dysphoria.

Financial gain is a motivating factor for the growth of transgender treatments. A representative of Vanderbilt University Medical Center sold the idea of opening a transgender clinic because of the potential revenue. "Bottom surgeries are a huge money maker," she said. "There are entire clinics that are supported by phalloplasties, and that's just a fraction of the surgeries that they are doing."

  2. Transgender is simply an idea, it only exists in thoughts and words, literally. Unlike the objective reality of males and females. Ideas cannot override objective reality – unless we all pretend they are real. Lets just stop pretending shall we?

  3. Why it did take several men who identify as “women” beating women in often lopsided victories for several of these “official” sports governing bodies to start doing something?

  4. For those sourcing evidence on the differences between trans women & women please look up Ramona Krutzik MD F.A.C.E. (endocrinologist) & for a full explanation of intersex chromosomes Colin Wright a leading Biologist explains this really well. Hope that helps.

  5. I know it seems heartless but when you transition you’re giving up athletics honestly it’s a shitty thing but other people shouldn’t be burdened with your decision for wanting to feel like yourself or do your career and then as soon as you finish athletics transition but you can’t have both because to me that seems like you don’t want to be treated equally but you want special treatment.

  6. Why are trans women ( biological men) so afraid to compete against biological men? I find it real cowardly to only want to compete against real women 💯.

  7. It's funny, the Canadian women's weight-lifting all inclusive policy was mocked by a male lifter smashing the record held by a trans woman who was vocally against the action. The male lifter who was the head coach only needed to claim to be a woman to compete. Such policies are just a mockery of men and women's sports. I'm thankful that sports organizations are finally addressing the issue of men competing against women in womens sports.

  8. There is nothing magical about testosterone. Lowering it doesn’t turn men into women. You should compete in categories determined by a DNA test.

  9. PLEASE, DONT DO THAT! I LOVE WATCHING MEN BEAT WOMAN!!!!!!!!! THEY DO IT SO EASY, SO WHY NOT? WOMAN SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT TRANS RIGHTS ARE ABOVE EVERONE ELSE BECAUSE THEY SAID SO!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😵‍💫

  10. Are transgender men band from men's sports? Of course not because transgender men can't compete with biological men.

    It proves the argument

  11. Thank F for common sense. There are 2 genders and regardless of what you identify as or your pronouns you are either male or female. Get over it 😂
