Looking for recommendations on tire and rim size for my girlfriend’s Surly Karate Monkey. Currently it has 27.5 x 3.0 tires. We bought it used and the rims have some damage to them already and they are a cheap no label brand. Thinking about going for a 27.5×2.8 or 2.6 and a rim size around 35mm depending on tire width. We would mostly be riding gravel and some singletrack here in the PNW. She’s pretty new to riding, don’t think we can fit 29’s on her XS frame.
Doesn’t need to be super expensive stuff, just something reliable that will be a good start until she has more experience riding and figures out what her preferences are.
