  1. This is a wild story. While vehicle drivers can often file claims for damage to tires and vehicles from unmaintained roads (i.e. potholes), the Illinois Supreme Court has said that cyclists cannot, as they are not the “intended” users of all roads. The exception to this is if the road has actual markings indicating bike usage.

  2. I’m confused. It seems like this implies that a city would be responsible if you run over a pothole and your car gets damaged? That happens pretty much constantly all over the midwest.
