#resurfacing Works-Llanthony Road and Sucunda
A stretch of Llanthony Road in Gloucester, known as the Gloucester South West Bypass, was recently closed for improvement works. The project aimed to enhance traffic flow and create a fully segregated cycle route. The road underwent drainage improvements, resurfacing, and widening and two carriageways with footpaths and cycle paths.
The Gloucestershire County Council led this initiative, with funding from the Gloucestershire GFirst LEP Growth Deal and the Department for Transport’s Levelling Up fund. The stretch between St Ann Way and Gloucestershire College was a well-known pinch-point, and these works sought to alleviate congestion. Additionally, St Ann Way was widened to provide two right turn lanes into Llanthony Road, and new traffic lights were installed at Sudmeadow Road. The project began in July 2022 and is expected to be completed by summer 2023.
UPDATE
The works on the Llanthony Road section of the A430 South West Bypass started in July last year has now finished.
