A driver gets very upset with a cyclist, the driver cannot be heard really well, but I believe she’s saying something about a cycle lane.
Cyclist tries to explain that “Car “dooring”, or being hit by an open car door, poses significant risks for cyclists” but no use, driver is too upset by now. Note: there’s no back camera footage on this video as my main bike had a flat and I had to leave for work, so only option was to grab my spare bike which doesn’t have mounts ready.
When cycling it is sometimes necessary to pass parked vehicles. You might be thinking ‘so what?’, well, a parked vehicle can make cycling feel a bit more dangerous because you have to pull out to pass that vehicle and that means going further out into the road where the moving vehicles are. This can be a frightening prospect and can be another potential barrier to people taking up cycling for everyday journeys.

FCUK YOU DIEGO! I'VE GOT A BMW AND I NEED TO GET THE RED LIGHT A COUPLE OF SECONDS QUICKER!
Keep it simple. Just ask "If a passenger opens the door and knocks me into the road will you be able to avoid running over me?"
It's the Great British pastime, getting irate at your own ignorance
You shouldn't waste your time explaining. Most of the time it falls on deaf ears!!
Well done on trying to explain your actions, not that you should have to.
I had a similar situation a few weeks ago when I didn't squeeze myself into a tiny "cycle lane" to the left side of the road partly because it was littered with drain covers – clearly the driver who overtook me felt I shouldn't be using "his" part of the road and had to wait perhaps 3 seconds to get past me.
When he confronted me at the next junction I asked him if he would have given me 1.5m safe overtaking distance even I was squeezed to the left – he just looked at me and shut up.
Ahh did the entitled "Beema" driver get triggered? Great video. Subscribed!
Silly motorist, next he'll complain that a cyclist didn't give them enough space when fillering.
Just ignore these idiots who haven't got a clue
Hello! Can I feature this video for an edit of mine? I'll credit you with watermark on screen of course. Cheers!
Not in the cycle lane?
You don't need to explain anything to them. If they don't already understand then it's a waste of time.
How are you mate? Would it be ok if I feature this video for a youtube edit that I'm cooking on? Of course, I'd credit you with watermark on screen as usual. Thanks in advance.
Can't rationalize with idiot motorists.
Interesting isn’t it…….can’t use cycle lane because someone may open a door. However when traffic is queued along a road in a similar situation cyclists then use their bike lane to get to the front of the queue. So it’s okay when traffic is stationary but not when it’s moving………..I’m sure the answers will come thick and fast………please explain……….
For her to not know why you wouldn't be in the 'door zone' means she is too stupid to be in control of a motor vehicle and never should have been issued a licence. Only when an IQ or any kind of real driving aptitude test is part of the licensing program, will cyclists ever be safe on the road.
A 30s delay to her sitting in a cafe yapping about nothing. smh
Is she trying to mime?
I had the same problem and on this occasion the driver from behind blasted me with his horn and it was very scary causing me to swerve.
I have a camera under my saddle facing backwards and reported it to the police who have taken action and they told me that my riding position was 100% correct because of the parked cars and as you also pointed out.
I sent a copy of the clip to the BlackBelt Barrister here on YT and he gave his opinion
that the driver was the elephant in the room and liable for prosecution.
He articulated his point very well. Well done to the person riding the bicycle for keeping his cool.
There is no point arguing with idiots and retards mate. Just be careful
you sound a little out of breath today. apart from this it was a non event video
It’s also a 20mph stretch of road 🙄
Because the stupid cyclist is not using his designated lane and clogging the lane for the cars. Simple.
She’s going to speak to your manager 😂
Its a BMW driver, what do you expect.
don,t ride in the door zone bike lane 👍
If you cant see why you anoyed the driver here I dont know what to say to you… it is a completely valid point that you raise however the cycle lane exists for a reason!
I've been in this situation and I said "I have to keep one door's width from parked cars for the same reason you do too"
How entitled. I still don't understand how peopke can legally drive but have no concept of the highway code oe even a basic level of respect for other road users
What's the point of a cycle lane?
cyclists should be in the cycle lane. If you don't like it , then drive or get a bus.
"I can't hear you."
She repeats whatever she says, but still keeps the window up.
I hate that road!!
A Fazer1000 makes a good mess of an opening door, ask me how I know.
Luckily they fully opened it quickly so I hit it square on rather than the leading edge. Me and the bike were fine; the door, hinges, pillar/wing weren't and luckily I missed their leg.
Hey there. How are you? Okay to feature this in my next episode? Full credits and I will notify you as soon as I use it. Thanks in advance! PS. I edit a bit differently!
What a rude entitled degenerate in that BMW.
