  1. Tips:

    Fenders

    Rain trousers, coat and either waterproof overshoes or waterproof shoes

    make sure your lights work (and run them during the day if the rain is bad)

    Have tyres that have decent wet weather performance.

  2. Usually the answer is don’t. Drivers are worse in the rain. Visibility is usually worse. Splash factor against you is higher. Lights do not reflect as well. Its definitely doable but uncomfortable in every single way.

    I’m in the UK so pretty much would never ride if I didn’t ride when it was raining.

    Don’t go overboard with waterproofs. You’ll get more wet from sweat than you would from the rain

  4. UK rider here. If you ride more then 10 miles in the rain your going to get wet. So…
    * Full length mud guards (Fenders)
    * Sandals and shorts if its above 10 degrees C – stops expensive shoes getting ruined and you can get Shimano SPD sandals if you want SPD
    * Rainproof boots below 10 degrees C with over trousers to stop rain ingress in boots
    * Gorewear torrent jacket
