I actually bought one of these off eBay and when I got it in hand it just seemed fake. Much larger than my deore 10spd that’s from 2016. Isn’t just bad looking components or this a knockoff?

If you want real parts, don’t buy from ebay/amazon/ali
Yah don’t buy from anyone other than a real dealer. I’d bet almost all that stuff on eBay and AliExpress are fake.
Best way to check – weight it and find clip on youtube how much it must weight, couple of grams difference doesn’t matter
The current deore 10spd/11spd derailleur is much bigger than the older ones because it’s meant to work with 1x and a much bigger cassette upto 46t for 10spd with the m5120 or 51t for 11spd for m5100. There are two versions of this derailleur rd-m5100 and rd-m5120 the m5120 is both 10 and 11spd the m5100 is strictly 11spd. it would help alot if you told us as which derailleur it was listed and what you intend to use it for or which one it’s meant to replace. If you are planning on replacing your old 10 spd derailleur with this one you need to check the part numbers of both the old derailleur and shifter to know whether it would work or not. The current correct 10spd shifter for this one if it is the m5120 is sl-m4100r or sl-m4100ir if your brakes are i-spec ev. Whether this one is real i dont know but if it looks like in the picture it looks genuine to me.
