I love the really slack geometry on these bikes. I’ve always wanted to find one and convert it to fixed gear.

I ride a 3 speed Speedster almost daily. For a bit easier of a hill climber I suggest swapping the rear cog with a 22t or 24t gear. They cost about $10 and take about 2 minutes to change. If you do that you might also have to replace the chain as the original might be too short. 3 speed hubs are fantastic, just remember to oil it on occasion.

I’d ride it – it’s a great bike. I have one in blue. The wheels are a bit heavy for today’s standards, so that would be a nice upgrade with decent tires and brake pads.
Keep the wheels, it’s a collector’s item when bundled all together. Honestly, it’s great as it is and after a tune up with new crank grease, tires, tubes, brake lines & pads, and a chain it will be awesome.

Racers make great little commuters. The best one I had was a two-speed kickback in black, ’62.
