I had been a member of this group for a while. Honestly had been considering commuting using a bike. my city doesn’t seem to have invested in bike or pedestrian infrastructure. I have not started yet due to fear of cars and how people drive..However may start next year with all the proper precautions. on the meantime, thought it could be a good idea to tell my council about how I feel and do some advocacy for bike friendly roads. I will only have 3 minutes to talk. pleade check my speech and if you can provide some constructive feedback and may be add anything you think I may be missing

I think it’s important to emphasize that YOU would travel by bike more if you felt safe to do so.
A lot of times anti bike lane folks will say that only a small number of people use current bike lanes, therefore it’s not necessary to make more.
So one argument in favor is that not only do X number of people bike, but more would do so if they felt safe to do so
But unfortunately those people are not usually present for these sort of hearings. But you are! Which is awesome!
Pick a specific, realistic action to use as an example, as add it to your first sentence.
