I have Shimano GRX RX-400 hydraulic disc brakes and I am planning on changing my pads and bleeding the lines. This is a two part question regarding both steps.
1) according to the product specs from Shimano (https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/grx-11-speed/BR-RX400-R.html) these brakes are compatible with:
Pad|Standard 1
K05S-RX Resin (w/o fin)
Pad|Standard 2
L05A-RF Resin (w/ fin)
Does this mean I can use a non-fin version in place of my existing fin version it came with? Should I do this if I want to save money? Are there any other even less expensive options that are equally as good?
2) what brake bleed kit and oil do you recommend? I’ve heard mixed successes from friends trying to bleed their own brakes. I’m wondering if they bought insufficient kits.

Yes, you can use the unfinned version. The fin genuinely does help with cooling though, as I learned to my detriment. I use Shimano oil and bought the syringe+funnel separately, didn’t buy a full kit.
