Posting this up for Google purposes. This Blackburn rack ( [https://www.blackburndesign.com/p/outpost-fat-front-rear-bike-rack/350170000200000026.html](https://www.blackburndesign.com/p/outpost-fat-front-rear-bike-rack/350170000200000026.html) ) is designed for front or rear use and being adjustable for width, you can also reverse the top tray. That was necessary in this case so I could still use the dropper.
Rather than using a bracket around the seat post, I managed to sort a setup using a mount just behind the seat post (6mm threads) using hardware included with the rack. The two side supports are both end threaded so you can change the location of the bevelled end bits. Clearance on the 27.5 x 4.5 Gnarwal rear tire at the sides is about 1/4″
The rack is very nicely constructed out of aluminium, but does weigh in at 2lbs or so. Max load is 70lbs which would be no problem given the build quality. I went through a few racks via the LBS, and this was the one that fit. I’m not too concerned on color, but I will likely respray it in black vs the one color choice from Blackburn which is pewter.

Nice! Glad you found one that worked. I installed quite a few of these on fatties over the years. You may find if you load this to 70 or even 50 pounds you may run into some issues with the rack mounted that high. The struts being so low on the rack creates a leverage point that could lead to a failure of where you have it mounted on the frame. The seat post option is a much more stable area with more strength. The platform does appear to also be on in the reverse position.

u/Mmmwafflerunoff , thanks for the inspiration. I was able to lower the rack nearly to the tire (maybe an inch above it) by removing the lower adjustable/sliding brackets (that connect to the two built in mount points) and bolt the rack directly using the bracket mount itself. Here’s the updated installation…need to trim the side rods:
They make seatpost clamps with integrated rack mounts. You might get more clearance
Trek et al should be more mindful of customer needs and bike purpose. There should be much better rack mount provisions

I’m still trying to fit a rack on my Norco bike. Are you able to tell me the internal clearance width of the rack where it mounts to the chain stays near the hub?
