  1. Back in the day Burton snowboards brought out the Vapour, their most expensive board. Which had all the most high end tech and weight saving of the top boards but rode like the Air, the entry level board of the time.
It was specifically designed for the more-money-than-talent individuals who could afford the best and wanted the bragging rights but went once a year and a pro level board would be no fun for them.
It’s exactly what specialized should have done with the aethos, and why dura-ace should be made with lower gearing, they would sell a shitload.

  2. Jimmy properly Zen like in this episode. Enjoyed his take on death and accepting (correctly) circs when not completing an event. Wise words.

  3. Old adage for training: ‘If you don’t do the miles – you’ll never do the miles” so, apply the British Army’s 7Ps: ‘Prior Planning & Preparation Prevent Pathetically (Piss in Army-speak) Poor Performance.’ If you’re entering a 5/ 20/ 30/ 50/ 100/ 200 km/mile ride make sure you can do the distance – by doing that distance once, in the weeks before the event – allowing for recovery time before the actual event. Oh, if you need an alarm? Our Lab lets us know at 0645 every morning that she gets fed at 7 a.m. we call it ‘Polly-O’clock’ (Polly is our Lab). Love your podcasts: are you going to mention the demise of GCN+ ?

  4. Can you please make the podcast 56 minutes long! my commute is that long and I love listening to it. When it’s 50 minutes long I feel all sad and alone as it’s quiet in my head for 6 minutes lol

  5. Chinese frame-maker comes in for the Wiggins brand, pays off his debts and he becomes the face of the brand, perhaps taking on a creative position and takes a salary…?

  6. Best Bond – Tim Dalton, and closly followed by David Niven in the 1966 Classic, Casino Royale – Brilliant!
1st Race : priority 1, enjoy it. Take it easy, eat, drink lots – a few paracetamol and or ibuprofen helps – look around you take it all in, don't try to win, it a purposeful day out.
Do that and you'll look forward to the next one.

  7. George Lazenby only did the one film, On her majesty’s sercret service. This was because Sean Connery announced his retirement and Roger Moore was tied up with The Saint. Yes I’m an old boy! P.s. I’m really enjoying your content 👌🏾✊🏾👊🏾

  8. No. No. NO. You guys and shouty James the Zealot need to realise:
    – Most cyclists DO NOT have the opportunity to ride lots of bikes
    – so, we WANT an exciting, racy bike. Something zingy and fast. For 2-3 hours a week. We can be "SENSIBLE" the rest of the time
    – we can't own 2 or 3 houses, including a mad seaside villa; nor can we afford 2 or 3 cars. We CAN afford 2 or 3 bikes, 1 of which is mental
    – STOP TELLING US WHAT TO FUCKING RIDE.

  9. I agree that most people would be better off on endurance geometry bikes, but you weren’t really clear on why. Priority number one is comfort and fit, no matter what type of bike it is. I think that should’ve been made clear. You mentioned making lightweight versions, but didn’t expand on that. I’m guessing it’s along the lines of giving endurance bikes an equal amount of performance credibility and/or elevating the status of endurance bikes. I just want to point out that custom frame builders already provide these types of bikes.

  10. I think Lazenby is underrated as Bond. Everything about that movie seems underrated- the script and production also had great potential but for some reason aren’t fan favorites.

  11. 100% agree about bikes being too long. I’m 6’4”/193cm with long legs and a shorter body. There is literally no bike on the whole market that fits me. Looking into a custom steel right now – seems like genuinely the only answer.

  12. You guys are 💯 % correct on that brands need to make something to lure new clients. Once they are hooked they will come back. Giant makes the Contend 2. It’s not $500 but it’s pretty close at about $800. My 1st bike was a 2019 Giant Anyroad 2 gravel bike for $850. I loved that thing and I knew I was hooked and turned around and bought the 2021 Giant Propel Adv Pro 1 for $4,700. Even stayed brand loyal.

  13. So true about the geometry. Literally why I ride the gravel bike with road wheels. Terrible performance on the road but my back doesn't hurt. Swings and roundabouts!

  14. Honestly that saddle is an open mouthed what the actual f! As if we as cyclists aren't vilified and poked at enough, just wait until the mainstream social media cycling haters get a load of this!

  15. Shokz openrun pro (newer version) is really good. I am able to listen to music when I ride, but I am still aware of the surroundings. Also I am able to talk to other riders. I am from India and cars & buses overtake you so closely. Try it out.

  16. Snow is an insulator. The ground is warmer than the air temps – so its a lot easier for free water to form ice if it isn't insulated from circulating air.

  17. Endurance bikes are underrated. I don't see the need or appeal (beyond superficial style or ego) for aero or race geo bikes for those who just want to get out there and enjoy their rides.

  18. Have a couple of kids. A great way of ensuring that you will never have a sleep pattern you are in control of again. When mine were young, 3 hours of continuous sleep was a luxury.

  19. You guys talking about -5 Celsius and here in Brazil last week was doing 45 degrees. But the principle remains. Why the f… am I going to ride in 45+ Celsius? That's no point…

  20. The bone conducting headphones actually do work. Play some music and then put your fingers in your ears. The sound quality goes up tremendously. It's crazy how they work. I've head about 5 pairs so far. Mainly because my dogs loves chewing them up

  21. IMO endurance bikes used to be underrated but now overrated. Get a gravel bike – almost as fast as a road bike on road and are a lot more versatile, and have more relaxed geometry.

  22. George Lazenby only did one film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. It's one of the best Bond movies – so much so that there's homages to it in No Time to Die and Spectre. Inception has a nod to it as well. It's a proper cult classic.
