Hi!

I’ve been sitting on the computer for the past decade for work and gaming after work and recently started to become physically active again (walking, light workouts).

I decided to try these Shaw Go rental bikes this weekend and went down this path for about 4km to the end, and 4km back: [https://www.google.com/maps/@49.2717472,-123.1929845,3a,75y,268.45h,92.13t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1ssnRmINqpmXcILJKGaom1jg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DsnRmINqpmXcILJKGaom1jg%26cb\_client%3Dmaps\_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D22.634863%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu](https://www.google.com/maps/@49.2717472,-123.1929845,3a,75y,268.45h,92.13t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1ssnRmINqpmXcILJKGaom1jg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DsnRmINqpmXcILJKGaom1jg%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D22.634863%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu)

It was a ton of fun, and my plan is to go at least once every weekend, so I figure it might warrant buying my own bike.

I don’t live in the area (have to take one sky train and one bus, about an hour commute) so I’d prefer a bike that’s light.

I don’t plan to go on roads so I’m assuming I’ll need a gravel or mountain bike.

I’m 5ft 7″ and about 115 lbs. so pretty short and light.

The Shaw Go rental bikes were pretty heavy and I felt like I had to hunch forward which I didn’t like either. Maybe I could have adjusted the seat height and not had that issue, but yeah, basically I don’t want to hunch forward.

Can you guys recommend some bikes around $500 CAD that would work well for me? I’m ok with buying used on Marketplace, etc.

Should I go for a foldable bike if I plan to bring it on a sky train or bus frequently? I guess even if it’s a foldable bike I’d probably have to mount it to the front of the bus.

Thanks in advance!
