Maradona, Romario, Baggio, Zidane, Henry, Figo, R9, Rivaldo, Leonardo, Roberto Carlos, Hagi,Weah , and I know I am forgetting loads of dudes, but these guys all had a shot at top player in the world at some point, then you had guys like Okacha, Giggs, Ginola, Asprilla, Batistuta, Ortega, Del Piero, Zola, Beckham, Le Tissier, Vieri, Inzaghi, Vialli, etc etc that were sick players, world class etc, but never in the best player in he world conversation, it feels like there are way less players in both these tiers, and maybe the average player is slightly better but the best are weaker in terms of numbers.

I saw Barnes and I just about saw about 3 matches of Kenny when he was player manager (on TV though not in person)
Barnes would be something if you dropped prime Barnes in todays team, Diaz would not get close to starting, Barnes was phenomenal. I feel like he was kind of born in the wrong decade, because he played inside forward style winger way bac in the day , the pace, power, but also silky skill, dude used to glide past defenders, great passing and cross with both feet, great touch, great shot hella strong great vision dude was a beast
Barnes, Beardsley and Kenny were my first football hero's(also Baggio and Hagi). later became Stevie and Zidane. Stevie is 1 year older than me, so I grew up watching his rise more than anyone's I guess. I'm an old c*n't hahaha (still play though)
