Hi all-
I changed out my 10 speed rear cassette today on my mountain bike. Everything went smoothly until I went to tune the derailleur and I noticed it would skip up from 2-4 and down from 4-2. I initially thought it was a tuning issue, but after looking more closely, I noticed there wasn’t enough space for the chain to sit on the third cog (picture attached). I did not see any spacers in the box. The cassette is a Sunrace 10 speed 11-40 (https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en/sunrace-ms3-cassette/137705355/p) and does not appear to have the spacing issue online. I am at a loss for what has happened – did I misplace something when opening the package? Thank you!

Yes, it is missing a spacer, you can get replacements
Assuming you replaced with something similar, you can just use a spacer from the old cassette. Those spacers don’t wear out really. Just check the thickness against one of the new ones to make sure it’s the same or close enough.
