I have got an old bike with mechanical Avid disc brakes on international adapters. The original brake is mounted with the ball shaped discs (the 4 parts in the picture) allowing the saddle to be adjusted to be parallel with the disc.
When I mount the new Magura MT4e disc brakes saddle on the adapter with the ball shaped washers, the brake pads are too far outside. When I mount the saddle directly to the IS adapter, the pads are in the right position, but rub at the disc. It seems the mount points for the IS adapters are not perfectly parallel with the disc.
Are there IS PM adapters a bit shorter, which allow to mount the ball shaped washers for adjustment?

From what I’m understanding you’re describing, it sounds like the mounts are not square to the frame. With the style of brake you’re putting on, you should have a non-Avid post mount adapter for the appropriate sized rotor, and then the adjustment will be confined to the plane perpendicular to the axis of the caliper mounting bolts.
The hemispherical washers are unnecessary if your brake mounts are faced or otherwise properly square to the frame. Also, that’s about 5 mm of washer sitting under the caliper- I don’t recommend using them on any non-Avid/SRAM caliper setup because it can throw off your pad height in relation to the brake track.
