I have the Park Tool FR 5.2. I removed and reinstalled the front disc without any issue. Then, I discovered I can’t fit it in the rear disc: the axle is too thick? So the FR5.2 can’t slide in the lockring…

What dumbfounded me is, on the other side of the hub, I can remove the cassette with the same FR5.2 tool without issue. Also, there’s not external notches on the disc lockring.

Do I need another tool? Am I just dumb?

Rear hub is a Hope RS4 CL. Axle is 142×12 if I’m not mistaken?

Thanks for your help!

  1. My stopgap solution: buy another pair of discs for the new set of wheel.

But I’d still be happy to understand how you remove a disc with such a tight gap and no notches on the lockring
