Today Martin from Estonia invited me to his house in Ukraine where he shares the story about how moving here saved him and made him a better person. We get a sense of countryside living, his lovely wife cooks us a traditional home cooked meal, and we end the evening with wine in the Ukrainian Hot Tub.

  1. 11:00 is that asbestos roofing? If it is it shouldn't be lying around loose like that… the stuff is toxic as hell, and usually needs to be professionally removed… sorry for pointing that out, but we have a lot of that crap in our country, and its proven really difficult to deal with! It may otherwise just be some type of fiber-cement roofing, if so, no harm no fuss.

  2. Martin & his wife are very hospitable to you champ. A great insight into why Martin left Estonia. Fascinating story behind the determination & need to change his environment. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey towards your escape from the depths of winter.
All the best and hope to see you one day in Australia ⭐️
No Moose, but plenty of Kangaroo meat right on the roads!πŸ˜‰ A fish to remember πŸ’«
Enjoy your continued journey. Time to re-energise the mind & body πŸ’―

  3. We, Ukrainians, have huuuge gratitude to Estonians – and to all of the Baltic nations. They knew what was coming, they helped and help – militarily, humanitarian help, but most importantly – politically, diplomatically and morally.
Baltic countries are not huge military hubs – and russia was constantly eyeing and harrassing them as well – but that didn't scare any of the countries into obedience. For the contrary, I was so impressed to know that Lithuania opened a de-facto embassy of Taiwan – just bcz it's right even if it pissed the ccp. Baltic countries are the paragorn of standing up against the bullies and evil and am proud and happy they support us❀

  4. Huskies in Ukraine are very popular bcz of their beauty – but they run off the most from their owners bcz of their character. It's nice that this dog found her owner❀

  5. I really love this video – it’s awesome! But, Oh Johnny!! No moose in the USA?? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚You have not spent enough time exploring the USA outside of big cities! You know most of the US is between the cities, right?? 😁

Granted when I was young in the 70s there were not as many moose, nor as many bald eagles etc as we have now. I first saw many moose when my family visited Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks around 1980. (There are also MANY elk there, as there are in so many states now.) But moose are the largest animals in the deer family, with bull moose shoulders being above 6’ tall. I saw my second, third & more moose in northern Michigan’s Upper Peninsula about age 11, and more moose in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Maine, New York, New Hampshire & Vermont, all through my teens. They live in 19 out of 50 US states- so 38% of US states have a wild moose population- including some in each of the states that surround California. Yes, Canada does have more, but the US does have over 300,000 moose. I love watching the mothers and calves grazing in a lake in the summertime. I really hope you get to enjoy them someday. Many states have a hunting season, but some states do not have a high enough population to hunt them. I do know from experience that they are also very tasty, but elk is my favorite red meat by far.

Thanks for sharing this β€œcountry”/self-sufficient lifestyle experience with us! If I moved to Ukraine, this is close to how I would choose to live. I’m glad you made these new friends, and I hope you get to go back and visit them in warmer seasons of the year. It’s really interesting to understand the different cultures and lifestyle ways of Ukraine! I especially appreciate seeing here many things I can relate to, growing up on a farm on the edge of the woods, growing & canning our own food, etc.

Sometime when you’re back in the US, I hope you get to visit some of our lovely National and State Parks, Wildlife Refuges, etc. You might not like to rough it in a tent or camper, but many of them do have nice cabins and lodges where you can stay and enjoy all the modern conveniences. Look it up sometime! I do recommend trying to avoid the most popular parks during the height of summer vacation season when kids are all out of school. If you must go then, try to visit the popular sites early in the morning before they get crowded. Going out into the wilderness and visiting beautiful natural places helps me deal with the crazy, divisive stress that is sometimes part of life in the US. Happy Travels!! πŸ‘‹πŸΌπŸ’™πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ’ͺ🏽

  6. Sound of a moose is 'moooouh' they are in Alaska. Beautiful Majestic Animal. Nice hot tub! A dry sauna work out shed would be awesome before taking a dip soak! Jealous!

  7. Thanks, Johnny. πŸ‘
    This was an interesting.
I like these kind of relaxed and nice videos, where ordinary citizens present their homes.
They value their home with love and respect for their country.
They are happy from a small things!
Happy waiting for Christmas time πŸŽ„βœ¨πŸŽπŸ˜Š

  8. Estonians, are as emotional as Finnish peopleπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Even more non emotional than us Swedes! And we can be seen as boring.
It is so funny to see the cultural differences in how people act.
We may be boring, kind of quiet and non emotional. But we are hard working and the most loyal people there are!!

That life actually looks great to me. Owning a small house with a garden somewhere in Ukraine. Much Cheaper than living here in Sweden, were everything is crazy expensive now a days. Sadly things will become more expensive when Ukraine joins the EU!
    Slava Ukraine!

  9. Hey big guy, thanks for content, just fyi -funding for Ukraine is about to stop. Americans have grown weary of billions of dollars going to overseas conflict like Ukraine and Israel -yet they don't even have basic healthcare for themselves. I think things could get really bad there. I wish you the best , but I fear the war is about to get worse.imo . Safe travels
