In both Buddhism and Hinduism, a Kora means a clockwise circumambulation around a religious structure, such as completing a single Kora around Tibet’s Mt. Kailash, which is considered a lifelong spiritual practice.
With this in mind, the Kora Challenge was initiated with only 35 riders in the year 2011. Over the years Kora has generated over Rs.70,00,000 for charitable causes. Its positive impact, from upgrading schools to aiding healthcare and disaster relief, serves as a beacon of hope for various communities. This year the Kora 23 fundraising specifically targeted Turkey’s earthquake reconstruction, emphasizing the challenge’s enduring legacy of international solidarity since Nepal’s 2015 earthquakes.
The Kora Cycling Challenge has expanded its reach globally, hosting events in 26 locations this year, including various places in Nepal, as well as in Singapore, India, Canada, Germany, Perth, and the USA.
The official registered stat for #Kora23 was 3886 riders from 26 different cities with 22% female participants. Likewise, the total pledge amount collected was Rs. 1,77,270 and a total distance of 1,98,364 KM was covered.
