I am looking at getting a full suspension bike for my 12 year old son. He is currently riding an xs hardtail and is in need of a larger bike. I am considering this 2015 Ibis Ripley. He will likely only have the bike for a couple of years before he needs to upgrade to a larger size, so I am also considering the resale value.

It kind of feels like a few too many compromises at that price. There’s a lot of sales out there at the moment and you can probably snag something new/better for just a bit more.
This was a nice bike 8 years ago and might be well maintained but I’d much rather go for something more modern especially at 1200 bucks. There is a glut of nicer used bikes for sale right now especially if you spend a little bit more.

It’s overpriced. But regardless of the price, you wouldn’t buy this bike expecting an upgrade over just about anything you already have. If this is a first bike, it would be all right for less money.

The [Norco Fluid](https://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/trail/fluid-fs/2021-fluid-fs-3/) is only $1500.
