I’ve used it two winters no problem and I kept my bike inside a lot so it never got super wet / had snow melt into it. My friend had it for the summer so it must have been out in the rain. I don’t feel confident using it in its current state since it’s a little tough to open when it’s not cold.

A lot of oil often helps with my locks that have been outside a ton. But I have had a nearly brand new locks seize up to. It was a lower quality lock.
I don’t know about the mechanism in those, but for pin tumbler locks, Houdini lock lube is what I use to keep things working smoothly.
I just used tons of penetrating oil on a frame lock that had been seized for 20 years and stored outside. Some wiggling back and forth after I got it loose. Works like a charm now.
Soak it in penetrating oil or kerosene overnight
Triflow has worked for me. Or your friend owes you a lock.
