I suspected that pawls from my Sturmey Archer SRC3 II hub with coaster brake were making a frequent clacking noise while under load. The hub makes only the typical clicking noise when I have the bike up on a block.
I disassembled the hub and tried all of the pawls. They all operated normally when compared to videos I have seen. All of the planetary gears are also good. I don’t see anything amiss except for the ball bearing lube.
I don’t see any lube on any of the ball bearings. The ball bearings themselves seem ok.
I will lube the ball bearings before reassembly but before I do is there anything else to check. I attached a video for the noise and a picture of the shiny ball bearings.
