I did not see anybody recording any evidence for the police. Don't be surprised the man can walk free from court for lack of evidence. The courts do not work with I say, the, say, they need concrete evidence.
That's a major flaw in the movie. The mom should have planted a camera or voice recorder in that bathroom confession, at least, as evidence to the court.
