Curious if anyone else wears D3O or Sas-Tec pads while commuting. I wear the Pando Moto baselayer armor set (super expensive but cheaper on FC Moto, and there’s some alternatives I’ve seen on AliExpress) which allows me to put on my regular clothes on top. Especially in winter, they’ve been kind of nice as an extra layer for warmth that’s pretty breathable. The soft pads (that harden on impact) don’t get in the way of pedalling for me at all.
I started because so, so, so many of my friends/acquaintances (>5 people) that bike around the city have crashed or gotten hit by a car with varying consequences (ranging from having to do shoulder PT, minor memory loss, nerve tingling in the wrist post-crash). I also witnessed a crash right in front of my eyes, where a big construction truck didn’t see the cyclist and hit them (not that the armor would’ve saved them in this case).
