I have done as much googling and reading of old reddit threads – looking for some final recent opinions on which to get. Mostly podcasts and some music (i have audiophile grade gear but want to ride more safely). Usually i just use a basic one bud in the ear opposite to traffic.
I like the look of the sony, maybe also better sound.
shokz seem more practical for battery life and hearing cars. But i dont like the form factor.
Wind isnt a factor as i have catears on my helmet chinstrap.
Thanks

Shokz. Post purchase warranty keeps you covered for two years.
Mind, I can’t distinguish the difference between a FLAC and an MP3 playback.

2 of my friends, my wife and I all have shokz and we love them. They’re the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever had, I wear them all day and I forget they’re there. I’m wearing them right now in fact. Sound quality is great, battery lasts about 12 hours, charges to 80% in 15 minutes, can still hear ambient sounds. I guess the only draw back is that the sound can get overwhelmed by noisy environments, even just a lot of wind noise, but you can counter this by wearing ear plugs, which makes the bass even stronger. I used to work in a super noisy machine shop and they enabled me to listen to stuff while protecting my hearing with ear plugs.

I use Shokz OpenFit myself since the ones with the around the back band don’t work so well with winter headgear, I like them. The sound isn’t audiophile great (there isn’t all the bass that a snob would want), but science says those guys are full of crap anyway.

Shokz get my vote. I’ll replace mine when they go.

I got the Sony’s and they really didn’t work for me. They fall out occasionally and don’t sound very good. I haven’t tried the Shokz, but I wouldn’t recommend the Sony’s.

Shokz can be uncomfortable or slip out of position if you wear a bike helmet or glasses or both.

I tried the Sony buds. At anymore than about 10 miles an hour wind noise overpowers them even at top volume.
