I appreciate that it's the law, but I don't appreciate the law. If the handbrake is on, the worst that can happen is a slight delay once the lights have changed. There are plenty of badly thought-out laws.

Mikey, I approve of what you are doing. But you dont have to be triumphal about it – for some of the people its a disaster in their lives. Evidence of your “triumphalism” 1. Jaws music, 2. Another one rides the bus 3. You make a point of ensuring they know you caught them – maybe you need to do that to stop them continuing down the road like that but 1 and 2? You are right to do it but you dont have to enjoy it – you always claim you are a nice guy and feel bad about destroying lives – I dont see that.
Rule 57 of The Highway Code:
"When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly. A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars."
So not only is she a dangerous driver, she is also an irresponsible pet owner.
