Hi everyone ๐ I recently went to Koblenz and tried the new Grail CF SL 7 in XS and XXS. Even though per size calculator on Canyon website I fall in the middle of XS range with my 170cm height and 79,5cm inseam length, Canyon fitter immediately recommended that I try XXS, as per his words โeveryone takes one size smaller than recommended with the new Grailโ, as geometry is pretty elongated.
And indeed I tried both XS and XXS and out of the box (without saddle adjustments) XXS seemed far better, while XS felt way to big and elongated.
It was once I saw the video (I am posting screenshots here) that my husband made, that I realized that I look freakishly big (tall) compared to XXS. I should have probably realized that sooner, while I was still there ๐ Having to
extend seatpost to 9,5 out of 10 allowed centimeters should have probably also
risen an alarm, but reach on XS was so uncomfortably long, that I omitted the
fact that XXS might be a tad small ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Posted pics are from XXS – does it look too small?
Knowing Canyon’s proprietary cockpit even on the new Grail and adjustments limited to the seat, would you recommend going for smaller (XXS) or larger (XS) size?
Or should I give up the idea of Grail 2.0 altogether, as geometry doesn’t fit me and the bike itself offers little room for adjustments?
Grizl is far too heavy for me, I am looking for a light 2by carbon gravel bike.
The only other contender is Rose Backroad Carbon in 53cm (which is also a tad big/reach too long for me, but nowhere near as long as Grail 2.0
in XS), as I can’t afford a 2by Shimano GRX810/812 series carbon bike with other brands (Rose and Canyon are 20-30% cheaper for the same components) + I live in Germany so buying a German brand makes sense maintenance-wise.

Yeh looks like you’ll need longer seatpost, probably better to find another model. 53cm from Rose will be slightly too big as well. Considered Cube?
